Veils on hats?

I have just finished a McMasters Attifet (actually two of them) and I have this lovely pin on veil I would like to use elsewhere.
Is it OK to pin it to other headgear; specifically, an arched brim riding hat or Tall hat?
It's about 24" square, and edged with lace.    I don't recall seeing anyone do this on the backs of  these types of hats.

Not with the style of hat you are describing.  A veil would be used with either the French/English hood or what is really an elaborate bun cover type hat.

With the tall hats, a lady wore her forehead cloth, coif, and then the hat.

That sounds interesting-do you have examples?

All I have found is just hats perched on hair.  I already use a small coif.

I thought a veil with a tall/arched brim hat looked a bit too Victorian, and I have never seen a veil used with them at any faire, so I figured I would ask.
If it didn't look too weird, I figured it would provide a bit of neck shade, but I'll use a parasol instead.
   Thanks!

Edit: I found this:  http://www.fynehats.com/renaissance_tall_hat,navy.htm   apparently this vendor sells theirs with a veil hanging off the back.   $110.00.
Never seen it worn that way though.

You can see the red/burgundy bun cover thingy with the veil in the above portrait.  (I know!  Very technical terms!   ;D )

Another probable bun cover thing with a veil.

yeah, the link you sent of Fyne hats looks very Victorian to me as well.

Yeah, all the veils I've seen are on hoods, atifetts (just a kind of evolved hood) pillbox hats and other, smaller concoctions.
I think they may have originally been added to those because some lady wanted a little extra something on her head; or maybe she didn't feel comfortable with all that hair showing.
A veil on the atifett is needed, IMHO.  The back looks plain and unfinished without a veil; just a gather at the neck to enclose the 'bun cover'.
