This would be my first year to attend scarbrough renisance fair, and I had no idea they did not offer onsite camping. So I'm kind of curious where all you hardcore rennies stay? I'm used to camping at TRF so I may miss the 'festivites' of an onsite patrons camp, but I would still like to attend. So what's a good option for staying near the fest, as I'm travling from austin and a day trip would be too hard I think.

Take care

We typically stay at the Hampton Inn, but have also stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, and the Comfort Suites. All are nice, and are within about 10-15 minutes or so...all along US 287 east of I-35E

Do NOT consider the Texas Inn, which is the closest one. I have heard naught but ill about them.

There is some campgrounds in the general vicinity (20-30 minutes away, I think), but not being a camper, I cannot offer any help there.

Thanks Merlin,

My husband is still super bummed about the thought of not having a camp to enjoy, We mostly like it for the clan aspect though. We've had friends in Chaos and Brigidoon over the years and the idea of a renaissance fair without clan camping is a bit foreign to us, but he'll come around. I'll take heed of the warning about the Texas Inn

I've been reading about the forums and I hear there is a fun tailgate/breakfast  in rows 10-12 before cannon? We will try to make that. Are there any other things I should be aware of or interested in at Scarbrough? I am excited that I see a lot of familiar shows form the TRF cirict which were lacking at our time in Sherwood this year.

Also I've been lurking on this forum for years but I don't think ive ever said hi, just come to look at maps of the camping for TRF, so HI! :)

We make festivities wherever we gather...  :D

There is a couple of lower-priced motels along the Interstate, but we've not stayed there. I think several folks enjoy the Motel 6, but I'll leave you to confirm that with someone.

There have been a few folks taking issue with Scarby tending to be a bit more family-friendly. Some of the revealing outfits that you would see at TRF may be excluded at Scarby. My opinion is, it's their faire, they can control it as they see fit, but we love it there.
