I had fun with my first experiments using a natural dye; indigo!  I dyed both linen and wool and made many, many punny jokes.  I did a write up on my blog.  Indigo was used in the 16th c to such a degree that both Germany and France banned the dye from being used since it threatened the woad industry.

oooh, what a lovely color. I had a frustrating experience with Rit dye last summer, maybe natural is the way to go! What do you think you'll make with the cloth?

For the wool, I'm hoping a kirtle.  The linen will end up being another early 16th c Venetian style dress, most likely.  :-)  I need to overdye them because it didn't come out perfectly - practice makes perfect.
