Hello all! Newbie here  :D

I attended trf twice last year, once day tripping and the other on AHE and I camped with an acquaintance.

My question is, how does one join a clan? Alternatively, do you have any suggestions of how I can meet cool people to camp with? Last year was still really fun, but I felt somewhat isolated. Since I will more than likely be attending alone, I was wondering if there was something I could do ahead of time to...break the ice?

(It's not the camping alone I have a problem with, I can take care of myself, I'm just a social person once I am comfortable, and I'd like to meet some awesome people to share drinks and laughs with!)

Thank you!

Hi!  Welcome to the TRF threads!  I'm the loud mouth that runs The Neverending Countdown...Fraser by name but I'll respond to a host of less savory nomicurs.  ;D

We sometimes have public gatherings, which is a good place to meet us out of garb and people from some of the different clans usually show up.  Keep an eye on the countdown thread...it's our meeting place within the TRF threads.

If you're near Sherwood Forest Faire, you might attend one of the gatherings during the off-season.  Next one is July 1-3 http://www.sherwoodforestfaire.com/more-events/gatherings/.   Friday night there's generally music, Saturday evening/night is a potluck.  That's a good chance to mingle and chat with people.  Tell them you're looking to camp at TRF, do they have any ideas/clans accepting new members?

Also the Sherwood gatherings are informal, so you don't have to be in garb if you don't want to.  (Which is good in July.  :D)

That sounds awesome, thank you for the tip! I can't make the July gathering unfortunately, but I will try to go to the one in August!
