I hope girdle belt is the term.. I bought a poly cotton blend  Medieval gown(needs some jazzing up) It requires a belt of some nature. The Etsy shop showed it with either an underbust corset or brocade loop around the hips, that hung down to the lower portion of the dress. Both looked nice. I am  wondering how comfortable a corset actually is in the summer time. I am dressing for fun, and not concerned with HA.

I would go with just a regular belt.  A nice embossed leather belt would be heavy enough to add a pouch on but it wouldn't look ridiculous either.   Do you have a link to the dress in question?

Hi KitchenWitch,

I don't think a well-fitting corset shouldn't be too uncomfortable in the summer.  The key word is well-fitting, though, sweltering temps have a knack for magnifying a small itch into a massive distraction.
Dresses like that would look good with a leather belt at the waist or hips if the wearer is built like the model on Etsy, but might be more flattering to normal people with a waist cincher, something like these maybe? Waist cinchers aren't quite as confining as an under-bust corset, might be a good in-between kind of wardrobe piece. Plus you could decorate the plain black ones...
