My sis and I are gearing up for the 5-1/2 hour drive to the Castle for opening day!  In addition to all the great performances, I'm looking forward to spinach & feta crepes, seeing Her Majesty the Queen & using coin of the realm.  The coins are super-fun.  I haven't been to any other fests that have that.  What are your favorites at OKRF?  I'm also hoping for nice weather - please take care of that for us Merlin (I super-believe in you!) ;D  Two weeks to go!!  Yay!

I shall do my best, but I believe we will be foregoing Castleton this season. We are planning a longer trip to Larkspurshire in June. I shall certainly miss seeing your sweet, smiling face!

I've upped my standards. Now, up yours.

My favorite acts are Ezndil, Bob The Incredible Juggler and The Escapologist.  My favorite vendor (Stickbow Archery) was not invited back.  Still pondering that decision by management...  However, I have many patron friends that I enjoy seeing each year.

I hope to take my oldest brother on his first trip to The Castle this year.  I also hope to take my former co-worker and her husband back.  They took me to Muskogee for the first time in 2002 which started this obsession of mine with Renaissance Faires.

I'm planning on the second week in May. Bob the Incredible Juggler and the Escapologist are also favorites (I've never seen the dice game he plays, so I hope to catch that this year), and I love the Musical Blades. Sorry to hear about Stickbow Archery; the fencing demonstrations won't be there, either. Looking forward to food from the Smoking Dragon, and homemade root beer ;) Mostly, I just love to wander around ;)

Tamtaro

Aw, thanks Merlin!  I like bumping into my favorite wizard too!  I hope you have a great time in Larkspurshire this summer!

This weekend's forecast looks cooler than previously advertised.  Happy Tamtaro!  A little rain is a fair trade for cool weather.  I won't wear my Sunday shoes though.

I love Bob the Incredible Juggler.  He performs in KC too - a longtime favorite!  I'll put the Escapologist on my list.

I hope weekend 2 is also lovely - I like the wandering quite a bit too, RefMom3.  This will be my 3rd visit to the castle.  Holy cow!  You've been going 15 years Craigmeister!

You can't win the dice game against the Escapologist.  It's like "betting against the house" in a casino.  It is fun trying to best him though.

It's easy for me to make it to the Castle, Tamtaro.  I live less than an hour away.  I wish I were as close to KCRF or the Sherwood Forest Faire.  I'm quite enamored with those locales.

I may make it tomorrow.  If I go, I may have young ones in tow.  I don't know if all of them would want to put up with all of the rain.

I should be up there this coming weekend (Memorial Day weekend) on Sat. and Sun.  Then the 8 hour drive back to Austin on Memorial Day.  :o

I'm looking forward to re-visiting it as last year was the first time that I got to see it.

Five of us from Bristol are leaving tonight on the 11 1/2 hour drive to Muskogee.  We shall be at the faire all 3 days of the weekend, and drive the whole way home on Tuesday.

This is Steve and my second trip to this faire.  Outside of the blistering heat, we enjoyed it last time.  Will be sure to catch the acts mentioned.  If you see us there, please come up and say "hi."

I wasn't able to make my weekend, and wasn't able to change my vacation time to try for a different one. I'm sure you'll enjoy a wonderful time, Lady Renee. I've seen clips of the parade they do in honor of Memorial Day, and it is very simple but very moving. Safe travels!

Just got back from an incredible experience at Muskogee.  Everything was wonderful!  We loved the absolutely friendly and helpful employees.  All of the music was fantastic.  Loved Ezndel, and Angus is hysterical.  The pub sing was also excellent.

If you go,for lunch, Sir Tenderloin, which is a grilled pork loin sandwich on a bun with letter, tomato, onion, cheese, and a choice of sauces was delicious.  Their French fries were perfect, too.  We ate there 2 of the 3 days.

We sat in the Maypole Square for the Memorial Service, which was very moving and was handled with dignity and respect.

We love his faire!

It was good seeing both of you! Glad you enjoyed everything (except the heat & humidity).

This is the place up the hill across from the castle and pub? That's my favourite. I get one for breakfast, then another for lunch. She was the first vendor to be signed when the faire began.

Yes, MerlIn, that's the place.  We met both the lady who runs the counter and the lady who is the actual cook.  They are both so nice, and the food was the best we had at the faire.

I'm glad you got to experience Ezndil.  They are my favorite performing couple.  I shared my tent with them about 8 years ago at a tiny faire as it rained all weekend.  They are really good people!

Sorry you had to experience July weather in May here.  That was the hottest May Saturday I can remember in my 48 years.  So atypical.
