For all you jewelry people out there...

Can anyone tell me of a good method for stringing pearls? They're fake pearls, mind you, but I've never done any kind of beading or jewelry making before. As ridiculous as it sounds, I just about drove myself crazy trying to create a string of 'pearls.' The string that I'm using is kind of stiff and a bit unruly. I couldn't figure out how to make my knot end up where I wanted it, nice and snug against the last pearl, and as a result I left too much slack and the pearls slid around. I just read that the pearls should be knotted between each other but seeing as I can't seem to make a knot snug to the last pearl, I don't know how I will do it after each individual one. Is there a tool I can use for this?

Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

Pearl Stringing
Even if they are fake you probably want them securely strung.

There are actually several methods of pearl knotting
You can find one that works for you.

I tend to cheat. I use a clear string - similar to fishing line, but meant for beading. I find it nice and sturdy. Instead of knots, I use seed beads the same colour as my pearls. Every few pearls, I double the string around a seed bead for security, and knot it. Using this type of string makes it easier to thread through the pearls as well, no needle required.

I use wire and crimp beads, no needles required there either.
I have a couple of jeweled hat bands made like this.   I had a few disasters involving hat pins and the severing of thread and monofilament bead string, so I went with jewelry wire. It will bend but not break or cut when pinned accidentally.
Note: Wire is best used where the work will not be flexed a lot-like hatbands or clothing biliment.
It is not ideal for neck jewelry or long strings of beads for the sole reason that it is metal, and metal breaks down when flexed too often.
What doesn't kill me-had better run.

I took a few pictures, nice, up close shots, hopefully you can still see the thread....
