Thank you, Sir William.  I must confess that the camera rig I've upgraded to is so darn good that I could probably just wander around blindly pushing the shutter button and achieve much the same results.

Ok... well, since it wouldn't leave me alone, anyway... I did actually write something, so I guess I'll post it here, since this is where I first saw the photo.  Just remember... you asked for it!

Oh, and the Iambic Pentameter just kinda happened, but it seems to fit.  This is the first rhyming piece I've written since... '91, I think, so I might be a bit rusty.  Far, far cry from epic, also, but an ode, at least...

(Edit: please forgive the rough draft...)

Honor Bound

Many names on thee bestowed
Though myst'ry still are you
Many faces have thou worn
All hidden yet from view

Noble titles, fairly won
Recount in song and story
Bold endeavor to proclaim
Upon the Field of Glory

Chosen place among the lists
Mighty war horse dancing
Creak of leather oiled well
Sun off armor glancing

Head now bowed in humble prayer
That Right and Might do mingle
Take thy Courage well in hand
Set now the spurs to jingle

Lance held steady, at the ready
Helm upon thy brow
One last kiss fly on the wind
Lady's favor thee endow

Queen's own Champion riding forth
Royal Honor be thy Token
Valiant victor, vanquish foe
To hold this Field... unbroken

Bravo!  Not only is it terrific, it's certainly a first for me.   :)

Sweet macro!  Of course, as I wound up in ER a few weeks ago with a really bad allergic reaction to multiple bee stings (they made a nest in my lawn and didn't like the mower going over their heads), I'm not sure I actually WANT to see them that close up right now.   :)

Thank you.  I'm glad you like it, since it's the first poem I've written in several years.  It's been a long time since something has inspired me enough to want to write about it, but this image spoke to me...

Jon, your little guy looks so industrious, and I am riddled with envy that everyone here seems to have real cameras, while I have something that... thwarts my every attempt to capture the images that I see with my eye.

Perhaps it's simply a matter of talent, though, eh?  LOL  I'm sure of it, and you all have it in spades!!!  Wonderful work!

Nice shot!  Was it done with a dedicated Macro lens, or zoomed in with a Telephoto?

Jon, is that with a certain 70-200 that may or may not have arrived yet?

Please forgive the lack of processing, but I don't have access to my CS2 these days, until I can get that particular hard drive installed in my new tower...  I just couldn't resist posting this shot of Lzzy Hale from Halestorm that was taken at The Conservatory a couple of months ago at one of the best shows I've been to in years.

They had a red spot on for most of the show... made almost every shot look like it was taken in hell!!!  ::)

Xanthenes & Rani, what a wonderful team you just made!! The photo is definitely awe inspiring, but add the poetry and it's EPIC. Thank you for your talents.
