I was wondering what garb would be 'period' that could be knit?   Is there a list somewhere?  Or resources?  I would be using my knitting machines and although they're a tad bit outside of the standard period (1st frame knitting machine was in 1589-ish), I'd like to help reduce some of my son's costs for his and his family's involvements in SCA and the various faires.

The V&A has some knitted jackets - they're later in the SCA period, and generally worn only in the home - but it's an option:

Here are some more fun stockings:

Ah-ha!  Here's a whole list of extant knitted garments for the SCA period:

Oh, WOW!  Thank you so very, very much for all those links.  Now I've got several things I can work with.  I'd already developed a pair of machine knit Elizabethan style stockings but now I've got a LOT of other knitting to do!

Here's what the stockings look like that I knit for my lovely daughter-in-law, Susan.  They're machine knit in a fine 8/2 cotton and she says they're super comfortable.

Thank you again!
