Just checked the site, and hopefully everyone has seen the notice:
"On May 7, 2008, the Board of Directors held a meeting to address growing concerns over the economy and dwindling sponsorship offers within the San Diego Arts Community. We discussed the price of gas, and the impact it is having on other, similar, one weekend event venues, as well as steeply rising fees imposed by the city and the public parks. At that time we voted 4-0 to  postpone the Renaissance Faire event for the 2008 season.
"Please be reassured that this does this imply we are closing our doors forever, it simply means we are taking a season off to reassess business operations, special event fee pricing structures for non-profits, financing, and sponsorships. As a 501(c)3 charitable organization that does not pay  its directors or Board Members for their volunteer hours, it is our continual aim to always keep costs low while continuing to improve the educational and entertainment value of this event. We look forward to serving you all in the 2009 season."

Bummer.  Now we have to wait till Escondido in the fall.  :(
In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.
