It's just after noon. The forecast shows that tropical storm winds will be hitting my area (south of Houston) in about an hour. Wind is presently about 20 mph.

The hurricane force winds are expected sometime this evening.

Sky is overcast but not completely blackened, but that is changing by the minute.

The biggest problem is that the power company says that many people will be without power for up to 2 weeks. I'll probably have to drive north to get gas for the generator once I run out after 48 hours. Nothing is opened in my area and some of my neighbors have bailed out, heading to high ground.

I'll check back in later today, provided I have power and Comcast is still working.

Hugs and prayers to all my Faire friends in this area. Needless to say, we will have Ike stories to tell on TRF opening weekend.

Baldr

Baldr and Freyja have made their land journey from the eastern shores and have arrived at Baldr's magnolia castle near the Texas Shire. We shall hold up here until the great thunder god Thor has completed his quest. We have plenty of dried sea bass and mead to hold until time of fair.

We are just off the main hwy I 35 south of Ft. Worth. We should be fine if the storm doesnt spawn tornados. I have a past-due mare who will problable decide to foal during the worst of the weather. My brother and his family left Houston to head up to Austin yesterday.

I was just watching the news about 20-30 minutes ago and they had a woman on there who had to be evacuated from the Clear Lake area.

She said that she works for the renaissance festival, and she looked familiar. Anyone see that bit and know who she is?

I saw that.  She said all her garb is still at the house, and she's worried about losing it.  Here's hoping the lady's garb is safe!

The dog and are riding it out at home in the 249 area south of Tomball. Ground floor apartment facing south, winds should be from the north so I will have some protection. Lots of tall pines around so here's hoping they hold up to the wind. Since hurricane force winds are forecast to hit as far north as Montgomery County, I sure hope the folks out in Toon Town have moved to safer ground.

Yes, lets all pray for the lady's garb.

My mom pitched a fit on Wednesday so we split to San Antonio - we left about 10 pm & got here about 2 a.m. - dog breaks, coffee, etc.  So we're holed up - cat, dog, mom & me - in a hotel.  But we're out of harm's way.  Stay safe, all.

I just saw my first rain about an hour ago. About one minute of good sharp shower, then it was gone.

We still haven't gotten a drop of rain in Cypress.  I hate this waiting.  I've got both kids sleeping in my room, and there's nothing left to do but wait.
