So, I know geocaching is 'the thing to do' (a treasure hunt for those with GPS thingies) but as a word to my homies, do NOT go on the CRF property looking for it during the 'off season'.

I currently work at CRF during the off season, and today, yet another tresspasser was caught on the property looking for the geocache.   This is getting bothersome for us working and is a huge liablity for everyone as it is private property.  Today the site manager decided he's going to start having geocache trespassers arrested, hoping it'll filter back to the geocahe websites that it's a bad idea.  He's undecided if he'll totally remove it or not, since it's OK for during Festival.  (I told him how geocaching works since he actually found it today.)

Of course, unless you have reason to be on the property, don't go on the property during the off season at all.

But I just thought I'd post the warning for those that geocahe. :)

Speaking of that, I had some very tasty burgers made from the bear that was harassing the campground this past summer.   I really think that in addition to the 'no trespassing' signs they should also advertise that select people do go hunting on the property.   It would probably act as a deterrent more so than the signs, knowing there's people with guns.

Frankly, I'm surprised that they've allowed the Geocache at all.  It seems like more trouble than it's worth to those who run the place, whether during the faire season or not.

The best way to handle this would be to remove the cache all together, or contact the cache owner.  Owner info is usually found inside the cache itself.  Every cache has it's own personal web page, and it sounds like the info for this cache may be poorly given.  The owner could also set it up as a seasonal cache, so that it is only available during faire.  When cachers go looking for it, it would only show up in their searches during the run of faire.  Otherwise during off season it wouldn't show up in any searches.

One of the techs that services the equipment at my shop does this geocache thing and he is going to see if something can be done about this problem. Looking at the person that placed this hasn't done anything in over a year and a half, in fact last thing he was place this cache in the middle of may in 2007. I was thinking that since it was just weeks before the start of the 2007 season of faire when it was placed that it might have been someone that worked the faire. But like i said there has been nothing from said person since than.

Take care and have a safe All Hallows Eve

Gary, This cache has been archived or disabled online by a geocache reviewer. Thanks for telling me about this.

There you go shouldn't be a problem anymore.

Take care
