I know absolutely nothing about the period gown you are making, but I am enchanted by watching this beautiful garment come together!  So lovely.

you have been so productive I am envious.

honestly i love the blue dress all by itself

I do too... the way it is cut and the way the fabric lays is just perfect.

I'll chime in, also, and say that while the entire outfit is lovely, the blue layer is incredibly gorgeous, and you've done an amazing job with the fit!  Simply stunning!!!

I would like to see a detail shot of the front of the blue gown, in fact, to see how you've constructed the fit, before the trim is added, unless it's already too late for that (knowing how quickly you work!).

Sorry, I've already done the trim. So this is what it looks like, now!

I still need to sew the bottom row of stitching on the underbust trim, plus do the hem on the bottom and the sleeves, and put the eyelets on the bodice.

Lady Rebecca...I absolutely LOVE this!!

I still have the lightly bustled petticoat to make, and a lot of finish work, like trim, hooks and eyes, buttons, tiebacks... but I am so ridiculously proud of how this turned out. I so super love the fabric.

Lady Rebecca - oh my goodness, that looks scrumptious! The layers are outstanding. Each layer has it's own wonderfulness (is that word?!) but all together they are gorgeous!

Valencia - I love the fabric too! I cannot wait to see the finished product, it's lovely!

<drool...you all make me feel guilty at neglecting our sewing machine for a few months!>

Lady Rebecca

Valencia, it looks great! I love the pleats on the jacket peplum especially. What kind of fabric is it?

Valencia

Satin. The jacket is interlined with duck, and the overskirt is lined with broadcloth. I so want to do an outfit in taffeta, I love working with that. :)

Kate XXXXXX

Oooh, yummy satin!  Lovely work.  Love the pleats up the skirt and the back of the jacket.

Lady Isabella

Lady Rebecca, That is so cool! I love all the layers! Such a pretty color combination.

Valencia, WOW! WOW!

The Medieval gown and Victorian ensemble are LOVELY indeed!!

I too love Pillaged Village. Those butons are my favorites! I use them a lot on Commissons.

Speaking of which, I will begin work on a period play after I finish relining two leather coats, altering a wedding dress, and 2 dresses for a March wedding.

Here are the patterns I am using to do latter Victorian ensembles...from Ageless Patterns. The play Director is supplying much of the fabrics. I will also be supplying extra needed fabrics as well. The clothing for the 3 women, wives of the Doctors Mayo of the famed Mayo Clinic, span from the 1890's to the mid 1910's. Later on in the year, I will be doing clothing for the wives when they were younger girls.

I will post photos of each ensemble when in progress.

operafantomet

Not at all a historical costume! It's a costume-in-making based on one from "The Phantom of the Opera" and the lavish Masquerade in the beginning of act II.

The decorations on bodice front and around the hips is only pinned on. It'll be something similar, but I haven't quite decided yet. The bodice is heavily corseted, and everything opens up in front, with a zipper none-the-less! This is new territories for me... But I love the lavish colours and many glittering details. It's very unlike the solid-material-based Renaissance style I usually do. The Phantom costumes are layers and layers and even more layers, which is very fun to work with.

The costume design, which I try to copy as best I can, can be seen here:
