Apparently "the fabric" to have for your easter dresses this year is a subtle Ombre.  That is what the fabric was, though it wasn't noted on the bolt.  I was the 3rd person to come in with this complaint.  They have since decided to ask cusomers if that is the fabric they really wanted.
Long story short, they returned it,  I got a different much less expensisive fabric but in the color I want, and picked up a few other things with out too much of a hassel.

I got another dress finished last night, and got half way through the organza cloak.

I shorten the bottom 2 hoops of my farthingale this morning. I think it looks much nicer. The front doesn't want to lay any smoother than it is now so I think I will leave it as it is.

Pictures coming soon on here (hopefully), but here is the link to my recently resurrected Dress Journal: Cara-Greenleaf-Designs.blogspot.com

Be afraid, be vawy afraid, the newbie is sewing....(seriously I've never sewn before, well minus one costuming class. But the teacher ended up handing me my sketchbook saying, "Stick with drawing. Stay away from the needles.")

After much coaxing from our Faerie director, I'm handbeading an entire Elizabethan underskirt (as I am playing a French noble this year)! So here's the start of it...

More pearls are being added outside of the diamond, with even more gold rods (smaller) being added outside of that. Way to jump in the deep end, huh? :p

Kit I really like that you are doing your own beading!   Me too!   I am trying a mock stomacher for my new court gown which will be just sewn onto the side lacing bodice.   I am still fussing with the overall background detail, but this is the thistle that is top center on the piece.  Picture is taken at an angle.  it is about  5 inches long.   Best part is that I am using all scrap, recycled, and found bits and bobs for this!

Squire_Kit

Wowza! That looks gorgeous (can't say I'm going anywhere near that intricate :P)!

DonaCatalina

Your beading looks great kit.

Oh I love that rich brown fabric with the beads... looks so sumptuous!

DonaCatalina

DragonWing, is that dupioni?
I love the rich color and the beading really makes it pop.
Those sleeves look like they came out of the Spanish Tailor's Pattern book. I wish you had a better shot of that trim/embroidery on them. EYE CANDY!

Thanks Ladies.

DonaCatalina, the diamond patterned fabric it taffeta and the sleeves I am not sure of. But it does have elasticity. Like there is Lycra in it.  I will try to get a better pic of the sleeves for you. I had not thought about it but now that you mention it does look Spanish.

to to interesting.

Well my new dress for scarby has been started. It is a ruby red velvet, with black cotton lining.  Sleeves is a silk sheer, and the skirt is the same fabric but with white cotton under it.  The trim is stuff from my stash, as is the zipper.  I have to say EVERYTHING came from the stash.  The only concern the PP had was it might be a little warm.  I told him I planned to make a linen/ cotton/ light weight dress for May.  I had planned for the dress to be a little big when I cut it out a month ago, but now it should fit fine.  I knew my size would  change but didn't expect that much in in 1 month!
