DragonWing - I love it! Great fabric, and... beading? That sounds like a lot of work!  :D

Bodice is done and I should have the skirt attached by tonight, maybe even get the zipper in, and hemmed.

In the process of revamping my avatar picture's dress.

Here's a bigger picture. Taken about three years ago.

The bodice is beaded now, and I'm working on beading the underskirt. I will also be vamping up the sleeves. They used to just hang but now we're getting fancy and adding buttons and ribbons and lots of fun things.

Also, I will be getting a pattern this week. Simplicity goes on sale for a $1 a pattern starting Thursday. Anyway, the pattern will be for a new over skirt! Of green upholstery velvet. Also got some chains (from a light store, $2.51 for three feet) to make a girdle.

Whew. Did I mention I have to have all of this done by the 30th of April?

Looks like you will be busy for the next few weeks. But you will love it.  Sounds like a good plan.
I am still working on the dress I plan to wear in 2 days for opening of GARF.
Here is the mostly done sleeve (sorry blurry camera phone).  Dress needs lining finished and beading and skirt gard, but I think I'll make it.   Need a plan for a new hat too...

I love how your RF pin is already attached to the bodice :)
Things are shaping up to be...
Pretty. Odd.

amy

hahaha..  I sure am a corner cutter.. and if that pin stays in place then I don't have to do a beaded medalion over the spot where I attached the strap.  just looks more tidy!

Sorcha

Love those sleeves and beading details amy!!!
Can't wait to see the finished dress.

I am in love with that sleeve!  What fabulous detail!  Do you have any links to better pics, more info, details?   ;D  Please?
Nothing clever to say here.  Not enough caffine yet.

amy

Thank you so much!   I don't have any more pics yet.  I just snapped that on my phone as I was working.  I hope to get some good shots this weekend at GARF where I am supposed to wear it .... finished!   Yikes.  the sleeve (as I am in a rush) is off a wedding dress pattern I found for a buck.  Just knew it would come in handy.

I'm debating. I'm working on my new corset and am having difficulty deciding on the manner in which I should bind the edge. I'm torn between a hand-bound edge stitched with black embroidery floss in a button-hole stitch versus a bias-tape binding. Either way, I have to hand-stitch. My machine can't handle what I'm working with. In addition to the 2 layers of duck cloth, I'm stitching through 2 layers of tapestry fabric. You can see where I'm at here:

Any suggestions??

Cara, is that a corset or a bodice? Two layers of tapestry sounds awfully heavy for a corset, particularly if you're planning on gown layers over it! I would vote for whipstitching binding over buttonhole stitching the edge; I think it will wear better and take a whole heck of a lot less time. But just in case, I think you should check out Baroness Doune's Binding a Corset By Machine.

It's actually a corset, but I'd like it to function as more of a corset/bodice. I want it decorative and pretty as well as functional. Think structurally sound strapless bodice!

I am currently finishing up some Sample garb accessories for a vendor/friend of mine in Michigan which includes a Tabbed corset, French Hood with Drape, and a Arched Tall Hat.

Yesterday, I cut out two tabbed corsets for clients. I have a busy week ahead of me. Plus Alteratins as they come in.

OK explain to me how I got roped into this?  ;D  The PP wanted a new doublet made of linen.  So far it is turning out pretty neat.  We are using the last of the trim from his old pants and making it look like his original Flamingo outfit.

Some how on top of that I wanted a new "warm weather" outfit.  I'm going to make the chemise/dress from Simplicity 9929, and then some bloomers with a maternity adjustment to them. If I feel adventurous I'll even make a new Italian over dress for it.  All out of my stash.  I thought I was suppose to be "taking it easy"?  How did I end up making something new for every weekend of faire? ???

This is the pattern I was thinking for me. I'll have to alter it since it is a size 12, and I'm... well not that size any more.  ;D
