The top one is done except for buttons.  Will try to get the gears pair done tomorrow, but have to order a boatload of buttons - 10/leg.  Eeesh.  I've always loved spats - they're such a frivolous accessory.

EDIT:  Here is one of the almost-completed clockwork spats - I need to order buttons.

According to Wikipedia: Spats are a type of shoe accessory worn in the late 19th and early 20th century. The spat is worn over the shoe but under the pant leg. Historically, spats were also worn by women, under a long dress.

Think 1930's movie gangsters w/a white "saddle" over their black shoes - the saddle is the spat. Victorian legwarmers or a way to dress up a bland pair of shoes - so fun.

Here's the Fleur de Lis gown in progress.

I need to finish the waist treatment and put the burgandy poofies on the bodice and on the other sleeve.

The skirt is fininshed and I am so happy how the pleats turned out!  (I don't have the bum roll under there, so they will be even more stand out-ish)

Beautiful!

Have you used the Eleonora di Toledo burial dress as a basis? The shape reminds a lot of it.

Beautiful gown, Margaret!
I drafted a bodice pattern for my granddaughter and made up the muslin. It's coming along well, so tonight, I made the picadills and shoulder treatment that goes with it.  ;D

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

And, actually, no I did not base it off of the Elenora gown, I guess it's just turning out to look like that.  The bodice is actually a tweeked version of the Simplicity 3782 bodice and some simple sleeves.

This is going beautifully. I love the fabric. How do you keep from beading all of it?
