I am making a simple tunic for my son to wear this season. I am a complete newbie when it comes to sewing, so this should be interesting. I am not positive I'll find a sewing machine to use in time for this weekend so I may end up hand stitching this :)

Im really excited to be making him his first official garb :) He'll also be getting a leather belt and if I have time, some soft leather bracers.

Later in the season I want to put some trim on the edges to give it a more finished look :)

I have so many unfinished pieces, and only one week until our faire opens. Each item still needs closures of one sort or another and hems or tweaked edges all around. The accessories list has been shortened, but is no closer to getting started. And, the baby will be attending in a diaper at this rate.

It's a mad dash for the self-imposed finish line.

Alisoun, you can do it!!!

Here is my husbands doublet. Nothing too fancy, but it works for him.  He is still undecided as if he wants trim, but we still have to go out and purchase the clasps that he wants for the front closures (or we can order them online),and I have to grommet the sides. His body=totally weird, so grommeted sides works best

I am liking me some pants.  ;D
Don't worry about 'finishing' I have stuff for his lordship and I that keeps on getting added to years later.

Thanks! Getting the trim on them put my patience and my machine to the test. I feel bad that I didn't put as much effort into the doublet as the pants, but I am making thread wrapped buttons...which is taking me forever.

Everything looks so wonderful!

Great job on the Paned Slops! One of my favorites to make. Not the faux ones I see in some patterns. But real painstaking paned slops!

Thank you ladies for helping to motivate me to sew again.  (Not that I stopped for that long, just was really putting off starting a new bodice.)  I am proud to announce that I cut out the 2 inner layers this morning.  I'll oil and thread the machine this afternoon and start sewing this evening!

Syrilla

Great Jobs everyone!  Tho, you are making me feel lazy!

Betty Munro

I'm going to try to post a picture of my bodice in progress.
I did the boning channels tonight.  Tomorrow I will sew the seams of the 2 inner layers and cut the exterior fabric.

My apologies if it is too big or doesn't work, my first attempt to post a photo didn't go well.

isabelladangelo

No, the photograph is fine.   It looks like a very nice Victorian cut.   Is it for a steampunk outfit or a Victorian one?

Betty Munro

It is for a Pirate / wench bodice.  Not H/A, but very flatterring and fun.

Betty Munro

interior seams are sewn and fashion fabric cut.  I guess the next post needs to be in finished projects.  I hope to be done in a few more days.

LadySeasan

oooh Betty I LOVE that fabric. my friend made a bodice out of that fabric a few years ago and it looked fantastic! can't wait to see your finished product
