Absolutely gorgeous! I love the color and pleating. I hope this is intended for an indoor event. It would be a shame to drag that train through the mud and have drunk patrons step on it!

In period, they simply tucked the train into a belt.  Although the picture in this link is a good 50 years prior, you can see the lady in the silvery white dress has her train tacked up with a belt.  It was still done later on - I just can't to the picture at work.  stupid firewalls! ;)

As many times as I have looked at that image, I never took note of the tucked up trains!

Not only trains. They tucked everything up when needed. As here, with the apron tucked up at the side of the dress:

That way it wouldn't get dirty when kneeling... Very practical clothes, those Italian attires.  ;D

Sealion, the shoulder ruffs did appear elsewhere too. But never in lush lace, as in the lace-making fabric of Venice. Other places they were usually made of the same fabric as the gown itself. Here's an example from mid Italy, painted by the artist Pulzone, 1570s:

Here is the site Sea Lion. There are no instructions per se. Just a Gallery of gorgeous gowns.http://starlightmasquerade.com/gallery.htm

The Gallery of gowns are beautiful. Which is why I was so inspired to want to make Venetian gown for a long time. I drafted the pattern for the bodice of the Venetian gown from a  Corset generator. My thanks to Jen Thompson for the Camicia Pattern.

Kathy, Lady Kett & Sidekick are going to look amazing, I just know it. I'm adding a weekend to our season schedule just to get to see them in it!

The Silk Camicia is cut out, as is the Over Partlet. Here are photos of the Partlet pattern I drafted.

The paertlet cut from the pattern I drafted.

The Partlet is Silk as well that I will finish with bias Tape. I am going to make a ruff using a wide lace trim that will grace the neckline. There are small side seams.

I also like the fact that the Front is different from the Back. Makes for an interesting look.

I cut out the fabric for my latest Venetian gown.   I have just enough left over that I might be able to make a matching purse of some kind but that will be it.   I actually did find a gown from about the same era with the exact same fabric pattern as the orange/red/gold fabric I'm using which makes me very happy.   ;D

I need some supplies from JoAnn's to do an Alteration. There I will get the lining needed for the Coat. Once I get that cut out, then I can finish the coat and get that to you. In the meantime, I nkeep the process going so that I keep on schedule. For the schedule is getting more booked up.

Kathleen, I am so, so...haha or is that *sew* envious of Lady Kett. What a beautiful inspiration gown.

Isabella, I saw your fabric in the other thread. Love the color! Would you post the inspiration picture?  I'd love to see it.

Progress so far on Lady Kett's Venetian ensemble.

The Camicia and Over Partlet...Both made out of Silk. The Camicia pattern that Jen Thompson devised. It took me a bit to figurre it out, but not overly difficult. I made sure i noted what the pieces were before I put it all together. I made cuffs for the sleeve end.
There is a Blue Cotton Petticoat under the Camicia. Non roll 1/2" elastic around the neck.

I have yet to make the  standing ruff for the Partlet and add needlelace on the front of the Camicia. I added 4mm peqrls and lace for the Partlet as well as the cuffs.

Now back to Lord Dragon's Captain Teague Coat.
