The design isn't my own. It's based on Maria Bjørnson's design for a ballet costume in "Phantom of the Opera". The details of the design is amazing. Look at the back of the costume. So delicate, so detailed, so beautiful! (click to enlarge)

Watching Phantom on PBS right now and they just showed the ballet scene--your costume is spot on! Good job!

The PoTO Ballerina Gown is simply Beautiful.  :)

I have the sleeves finished for now. I am working on the inside of the Bodice sewing by hand the ribbons that will provide the Ladder Lacing for the cording. Lots of hand sewing. Thank goodness it's on the inside and not seen.

The Sleve showing pearl/Silver buttons and teardrop pearls between the panes, in the lace center of the flower on the cuffs, and beteeen the panes at the shoulder. I used 8mm pearls.

Ok then, the bodice is finished except for the gold Fleur de lys buttons I have coming from brazen button.   I decided the black center front section was too wide, so I added two strips of matching cloth with yet more piping and tacked it on over the sides of the velvet to visually narrow it.  I made them the same width as the straps.    The buttons I ordered will cover where the edges of the piping end at the bottom of the stomacher. I may place a small chain across the point to link them.  I used clasps that matched hubby's down the front for decoration.
The box pleating trim on the edge of the bodice front echoes the collar on hubby's doublet as does the rounded tabs on the peplum and wings on the shoulders.
Tonight I finished one of the removable foreparts for the skirt, using some more of the silk embroidered black and gold Fleur material I used to line hubby's cloak.   I still need to make one more forepart of the plain gold dupioni.
After that I start the over skirt.  That scares me.
I have decided the hemming will be done by a professional seamstress who made a hostess kilt for me.

I just love that you use "plain", subdued fabric and rely on the cut. It looks absolutely fabulous!

The color is beautiful! I love that style of dress.  What are you plans for trim?
