Here's the start of my favors for Kansas City Renaissance Festival.  I recently got the faire name "Stowaway Allie" (wench who loves the pirates and is always trying to stow away on their ship and run off to sea with them), so they're nautical-themed...

I'm probably adding nametags...maybe with shrinkydinks as I saw someone else post in this thread. I'm making 40. My first favors...I hope people like them! (I've done swaps for Girl Scouts for years and years, so this was right up my alley.  )

I got my shrinkydinks today, so here's the "finished" (I still have to seal the shrinkydinks) version of my favors! I have 20 made so far, and since my favor pouch is completely full, I think I'll wait until later in the season to see if I need to make more. Now I have to figure out a way to wear the two I'm keeping and any others people might give me...:-)

Yeah, I'm a slacker...  This is a shot of the pirate favors I made for TRF... LAST year. 



I used Antiqued Gold Rub-n-Buff to get rid of the shiny brass finish on the charms (although you can't really tell in this pic), wired the ships wheels to pin backs (that was a pain), made all the bead dangles myself with brass wire and glass beads, and even made the jump rings.  It took forever, but it was fun...

With my first faire of 2011 coming up in a few weeks, I've just ordered the beginning of my 2011 favors!

I'm going to string all three of them on a safety pin with colored beads and a ribbon with my faire name/the year. I ordered 35 of each for now. It wound up being like $1 per favor but they're SO cute and SO "me"! I may have to end up ordering more for my home faire in the fall, but this should get me through my weekend at my spring faire! I'll have to be frugal with them! I'm super excited to get my charms!!

Ok just curious, does anyone ever do favors for their babies or children? I have an awesome idea for favors for my little boy but not sure if I should. Thoughts?

To give to the children, or in honor of them?   Cos at the bottom of page 5, someone made a ribbon charm in honor of their grandson as public awareness of sorts for an illness.

I personally see no problems with it, if that is your meaning. Having no charms (err, well having never been to a faire yet) I for one would gladly wear a personalized charm.

They would be for my little boy to give out.  Well, actually, I'd be giving them out for him lol.  He's going to be a pirate and I thought about getting some little pacifier charms from a party store and paint them gold like baby pirate treasure, and then give them out.  I figured it would be cute   Just wondering if anyone has done something similar to this.

After being "misrouted", taking about three days longer than they were supposed to in shipping, and two weeks after I ordered them, my charms finally arrived and I've started work on my 2011 favors! Just in time--I'm attending the Oklahoma Renaissance Festival this weekend!



I love them and think they're turning out great so far!!
