Can you get tickets at the gate and how soon does it sale out?
Dame of the Realm

LadyJessica

Yes you can buy tickets but not at the gate.  Go to the store at the entrance to the King's Feast and you can get tickets then.  Usually they're not sold out but if you're going with a large crowd you may not be able to sit together but if it's just one or two I'm sure it'll be fine.

I've never been to Kings feast either...  I've heard its all u can eat and drink?  That would be maybe worth it one weekend this year.  It's not like I won't be there every weekend and will most likely have the time at some point.

If you have a thought of going later in the season, make your reservations opening weekend.

LadyJessica

Yes it is all you can eat and drink...well all you can eat during the Entree course.

1st course - bread, cheese, fruit
2nd course - small salad (usually Ceaser)
3rd course - soup (changes yearly)
4th course - (The big meal) they bring you out a plate with garlic sauteed summer veggies (squash and fresh green beans and something else but I can't remember as I can't eat it so I don't really pay attention to it) and garlic roasted red potatoes and they walk around with prime rib (on swords), pork tenderloin (on those 3 prongs chinese weapon thingies same with the next 2 items), rosemary chicken, and sausages that almost taste like brauts.  You get all the meat you can eat.  ;)
5th course - desert (changes yearly but always has fresh berry's from the garden that George owns. The Creme Brulee one year was WONDERFUL!)

Just talk to the people in the shop and they should be able to let you know which weekend is less full.

If you really want to go, you need to move quick.  It's less crowded opening weekend, and you may be able to get tickets next weekend.  However, from Halloween weekend on - good luck!  They fill up fast.

I'll be there tomorrow with a small party for the first show/feast.

And by the way, they normally won't let you leave the Feast Hall unless your mug is topped off with your favorite beverage...

Good hunting...

PS - Don't forget to tip on your way out!

I have never been.  But I oh so want to go.  And now that I have read this tread I am all of a sudden hungry and my mouth is watering.  Maybe this year things will align and I can go.
May the stars always shine upon you and yours.

They told me that Sundays are the best days to go because they are rarely ever sold out on Sunday.  I went with Teach & Trinn and got my ticket about an hour or so before the feast.  There were plenty of extra seats too, we got to move up a table and spread out a little which was great!  ;D

If you go, pace yourself, don't eat everything they bring you!  Nibble on the fruit, cheese and bread if you are really hungry, I wouldn't have even touched my salad if I had known better!!! The soup was wonderful so I'm glad I ate that, but just be careful because I was already full by the time they brought the main course!  :-X  I will know better next time!!!  ;)

WOW!!!  Friends I am glad to let you know about this because now (One full year after Gastric Bypass) I could never make going pay!! Lady Heather (My Friend at Faire AND IRL) and I attended two years ago!! I thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment and the food was Excellent, but the part I will always remember was, because of my SIZE,they put me on the end of our table on a heavy wooden stool. The revelers at the table behind and across from ours were waving and joking basically just having fun. I felt a tiny tapping on my shoulder and turned from my plate to see a very pretty woman in garb, apparently embarrassed about wanting a picture, her friends were egging her on so instead of standing I took her hand and assisted her on to my lap (it was much smaller then!) the table she had come from erupted in whoops of laughter and four or five flashes went off! I helped her to stand up and received a kiss on the cheek for my trouble, well, during the rest of the break in entertainment I would receive several more taps on my shoulder, other women from the same table that were all asking for pictures with me! I received a kiss on the cheek and a thank you from each lady. Every time I would turn back to the table and return to whatever conversations or food I was enjoying before being interupted. Soon, sure enough another tap came I spun around on the stool and reached for the proffered hand.........only to find myself facing a man dressed in the furs of a barbarian!!!!! I am happy to report that without blinking....much.....I helped him to perch on my knee, smiled for the pictures and assisted him to his feet and as he turned to go back I shouted at him "WHAT, NO KISS!??!"  He meekly returned and amid MUCH good hearted laughter, bent low ........and shoved a dollar in my vest!!  I just wish I had some of those pictures!!!

A chill in the air, over your shoulder, the Ice Queen's cold stare, you can only be one place. The Texas Ren Faire!

HaHaHa   I so enjoyed that story too !!  Thank you for sharing that with us  :)

I have a question about the feast I hope someone can answer.  We talked about going on Sunday, but had already purchased a weekend pass when the subject came up.  Doesnt the price of the feast include your admission for the day?  Do they discount the price if you are already inside faire when you decide to purchase your feast admission, or does it remain the same price?  We didnt go to the feast because we felt like it would be paying twice to enter faire.  We would like to go next year though.  It sounds like such fun !!

*Teach*

Yes, you can get a slightly discounted price if you have already bought your ticket, that's what we all did.
I am definitely planning to go opening weekend next year... buying tickets as soon as possible for the 2:00 show
(we figure the hottest time of opening weekend would be a great time to get in out of the heat lol)

*I didn't notice a rum course... wonder if they do requests...*

THis is going to be my first year at the feast, we're going the saturday after thanxgiving.  i figure it would be good cause we've already got the stretching in from thanxgiving and so can make the most of the big meal.

As a long time patron of TRF ( 30 + years ), I personally do not recommend the Kings Feast.  The last 2-3 times we attended there was poor cuts of meat ( the prime rib was all fat and what wasn't was tough as Brigaqueens hide ).  We waited forever to get any libations, an average of 1 possibly 2 glasses of wine or ale per person at the max, and we had 12 people together that were displaced in groups of 2-4 all over.
I would recommend saving half that cost and going to the Wine Tasting.  Fruits, cheeses, meats and a sampling of 7-10 wines.  Much funner and and all around better deal.

I have to disagree with you Snylor, being my first time at the feast I was very skeptical of the price and felt pretty guilty for spending it.
Then... It was a blast!
The food was great from beginning to end, I tried to eat at least a few bites of each thing to get a good opinion. For those who know me, I am not exactly a small guy and didn't get this way by pushing away plates. I am however VERY picky about what I eat (believe it or not) and didn't try anything that was not done exceptionally well. The meat courses were excellent at the least.
Drinks never stopped coming, all we had to do was raise a hand or look about and mugs were refilled quickly.
At the show we were at there was an empty table in front of us so they allowed our group to spread out and have even more room than normal.
If you're in a large group then you need to make your reservations early and request your seats together other wise you do get placed wherever the empty places are. That's kinda standard anywhere you eat though.

I do agree on the wine tasting being a blast... my vote would be... Go to both!

I disagree as well... Our meals were excellent and the prime rib (which is normally a fatty slab of meat anyway) was mouth watering juicy and tender.  They were a bit slow during the course changes with the beer, but not with the wine.  And once desert was served our beer mugs never emptied.

We will definitely be doing it again next year.

Wow, I don't remember my wine glass ever being empty...well, maybe once...other than that they kept the wine flowing and believe me, I had more than my fair share!  I was a bit tipsy when I left even after all the food!!!  ;)

The food was wonderful and the meat was the best part!  The only meat that I didn't try was the sausage, only because I don't like sausage to begin with.  The prime rib was excellent too!!!  I just wish I had left myself more room for it!!!  I did manage to get down a few bites though!  ;D

I will definately do it again next year!
