What is the general consensus about camping but not entering the faire?

I'm, of course, NOT speaking of the 'ravers'... *shuffles feet* I'm just thinking how fun it would be to just camp... budget might not permit an extra weekend of tickets for our family of 5 plus all of the spending that goes on inside... (and ooohhh it is just horrible contending with the kids' and my own 'ooh pretty' reaction to all the lovely wares inside)... So be honest (but be kind to the newbie, please?) and tell me if this is or is not a good idea.  :-\

Well, there are those who go to Faire all day long and party all night long, and just crash the next day, so I don't see why not...

Alot of my group does it. We have a blast during the day. We'll play horshoes, chess, random board games.. go say hi to people. It's kinda like a cruise ship. You dont neccesarily gotta go on deck to have fun.

Elnarii

I know there are some who do it... I just would hate to offend the very people I can't wait to meet by simply making a camping trip out of it, ya know?

If you are in a large group, you usually become the very favorite people ever - as it leaves someone to watch camp while they play inside for a bit without fear. Other do this too, so its not like you would be all alone out there just babysitting, but could relax and nap and be ready for the partying at night. Of course that's just my perspective on it - coming from someone who is inside as long as possible both days (So i am very grateful to those folks that watch over camp, and I try to do as much as possible on friday and sunday mornings so I am not just taking advantage of people who watch over us).

due to fair prices and the current economy, i don't think anyone will shun u for not entering fair.  but if u dont' go at least once a season, there's something wrong with u!!  coming just for the camping is totally acceptable.  i know a lot of people that do that.

on the other thread where people are complaining bout those who don't enter.  they aren't talking bout the generally nice folks, but more the children going crazy with freedoms.  there are some groups of minors who come out, put up a tent, and go make hell for others.  they start fights, steal things, and i've even heard a few rape stories.  those people never go into fair.  so those are the people who we are trying to stop from camping.  but i get how u would b confused.

come camp with us, the more the merrier!!! :)

I went in opening weekend and already have tickets for closing... I just don't know if hubby will agree to a third entrance... hehe.. but he does so love camping.  8)

So....

leave HIM in the camp ground and come inside and play! Mwahahahaha!

We have a few Brigadoon-ers who don't go into faire most of the time. They would rather hang out at camp, relax, start cooking early, and to keep an eye on things between our camp and Valhalla. So, I dont think anyone would think you "odd" for not going inside the faire. I personally rib those of us who don't go inside, but at the same time, I am grateful that there are at least some of us willing to hang out at camp and keep the riff raff out of our sh*t. You and your hubby are more than welcome to drop by Brigadoon and say hello!!  :)

Hmm... Getting thoughts of going in by myself... excuses for 'me' time... personal experience of the faire....

;) Wonder if he'd go for that...  :D  He'd probably say yeah... but then want to be the one who goes in... lol!  He's as much a fan of faire as I am... (He's the one who introduced me to this wonderous thing that draws us from far and wide...  8)

Maybe something you guys could take turns on, if you need a little "me time"

Just for reference --- How much does it cost to camp at TRF, if you're not going in to the Faire?

Is there a discount (per night) for staying two or three nights?

Take Care,

10 bucks per car - period. No mater how many clowns are in it, or how many nights.

please don't bring clowns though...they are creepy.
