Well, I tried the Phyllis Diller look for a costume party in Houston last Friday- short dark blonde wig teased all frizzy, ankle boots, colorful sack dress, elbow-length gloves, gaudy bling and a cigarette holder, most gleaned fom various local consignment shops. I think what I arrived at was less PD and more "middle-aged drag queen", but what the hell- people's reactions were great, and guaranteed nobody else was going to be wearing it!

With or without hair on the arms?

One with, one without  ;D

Actually, with the grill moved away from the wall you can reach by the grill on the side without any singeing- of either arm- as reported...

Hey now... Using "PD" and "Middle-aged drag queen" in the same sentence is going to give people the wrong idea here. ;)  ((There are those here that shorten my purpledragon name to PD)). Besides, I'm sure you looked Divine (speaking of Drag Queens). ((come on now..someone has to catch THAT reference)).

How about going as a Drag King? Would that then be Shirley Muldowny or Big Don Gartlet? And since Shirley has won many Drag races would she not be a REAL Drag queen?

This year, I'm NOT going to be a pirate! :o

I'm being...

wait for it...

...

... A zombie!

... er... well okay, a zombie pirate.

I know, I know, I said I wasn't going to be a pirate, but... well... c'mon, it's a zombie pirate!

Alright, so the real reason for this is that I simply couldn't afford to put together anything better.  My grilfriend was going to dress me up like Sweeney Todd, but it doesn't look like the costume will be done in time.  Hence, I'm taking old pirate stuff, tearing it to shreds, and adding moss, seaweed, assorted shells, and liberal undead makeup.  It's gonna be epic.  Yar.  Er... Brains.

Thanks for reminding me about the seaweed! I'm going as the same this weekend at TRF. I work in a sword booth, so I made the guys promise to behave themselves (they're all gamers that like to kill zombies.) I had to bribe them with my jello brain made with rum, this way they all become zombies!  :P

There's a costume contest/Halloween party going on in my apartment building next week on a night that I am not working, so I think I might go.  I don't really have anything planned out though, so more than likely I'll pull out the ol' festival garb.  Or maybe...maybe I'll put on my vampire teeth too and go as a vampire pirate!  Overkill?  ;)

Ah ha, two funny people...  ;)  Yes, I hear the hair is usually singed off by the first weekend, however, I wouldn't know- I work up near the hamster toss.
What I've heard thru the hamster vine is that Yakatori Demetrius guy wears hairy hares on his arms...which begs to hear the question........
How many Hares could a hairy hamster chicken yakatori guy hear if a hairy hamster chicken yakatori guy could hear Hares?
...which in turn begs the next hairy question.......
Do hares make noise that one can  hear if a hare falls in the woods?
Ask a hare juggler?
Let your hare down......

Okay, this is getting bad.  I came very close to spitting hot chocolate all over my computer when I read that.

(It's true though, I did make someone pee their pants on Sunday at the haunted house.)

Just to toss this out there, seems appropriate
I am going as a Shadow Guard from Star Wars (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Emperor%27s_Shadow_Guard)

I just recently, as in today, bought the helmet, though it be red because there are no other shadow guards in the world, at least according to everything i ahve read.
Not even the 501st has one
So my intention is to be the first.
As I am painting my $300 helmet, that i got for $100 tomorrow and working on the robes before next year.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Star-Wars-Emperors-Royal-Guard-Deluxe-Helmet_W0QQitemZ200258714378QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item200258714378&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2%7C65%3A3%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318
Its basically that, though its a Don Post original, which means its highly collectible and that it is the only liscensed versionof the helmet, though there are others out there.

Now to find someone who knows how to help me modify the helmet so it fits my head better, its a reallllly tight squeeze. But so worth it.
