Comb Morion Helmet
« on: October 29, 2008, 09:30:05 AM »
I'm trying to locate a really nice high quality Comb Morion Helmet that looks decorative and is not overly expensive ($150 range). It needs to be wearable and I have found a few at places like Real armor of God but I would like to get refernces from you guys that wear armor and helmets on where to get one. This is for a gift for someone and I want the to look like an officer in the Kings/Queens guard.

I'm also looking for a breast plate that would match or work that fits up to a 48" inch chest (46" with out clothing). So if you have any suggestions please let me know.

I thought about real armor of god (www.realarmorofgod.com) but they will not ship to where I need it shipped to... my personal mail box which prevents theft from my door step.

Thank you in advance.

I had not heard of that place before . . . weird.

odds are they are getting their stuff from somewhere else, maybe two or three different places.

you might try going through our vendor listing (not pervasive, nor vetted) and see what is out there.

I'll see what groups I go through who . . . hmmm, mostly a lot more expensive . . .

for $150 or less, you'll probably have to go more costumeage, like these:

By The Sword Comb-Morion

They have a fancier one as well, and others have liked By the Sword (I have no experience myself).  From the bit of searches I've done, it looks like most use the same 1-3 images, so it could mean the items are from the same place or they just like the pics.

Good luck!

The vendors mentioned as well as most other similar companies are getting thier goods from a mix of the same Indian, Pakistani and Chinese makers. You're seeing the same three examples of morions, two are by the same company ( Deepeka) and one is by MRL or International Steelcrafts.

These helmets usually don't come with an liner of any sort ( in other words theres no suspension to allow them to be worn) and really should have multiple lame cheek plates to allow for securing the helmet under the chin. I've done this modification once or twice for customers but it will add $100 to the price, its not really a beginers armouring project but one can always give it a go. Either way the morions shown won't be " wearable" without some modification to them.
