I agree with Gem in that it looks very 19th c to my eyes as well.

If you want to stick to the 16th c, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Valois_Tapestry_2.jpg

Look at the various images from the Valois tapestry. I'd make a simple pointed front bodice that closed in the front using hooks and eyes, an attached, closed skirt, and maybe some shoulder rolls.  You don't need trim.  You don't need contrasting colors.   There isn't a forepart and you don't even "need" sleeves.  (You could make sleeves out of the same material if you like but your chemise should do fine).

However, given the look of the fabric, I'd really go regency.  It would make a perfect train for a Neapolian Court Dress.

Wonderful Ideas, ladies... I haven't attempted regency yet - I'm fluent in American Civil War, and just getting my feet wet in Elizabethan... I will print these suggestions and sleep on it a bit yet.. I'm in the middle of a court dress right now.  I like the idea of long and flowing with very little trim,  though... that would truly work for this fabric.  Thanks again!
