faux fur?

Does anyone have any advice to share for working with faux fur?
I'm planning to make this coat:

and have found some faux fur that looks and feels nice but I've never worked with the stuff and don't want to screw it up!

Once I was given a bit of advice that I have never had the occasion to try.

With thickish furry stuff, shave down the fluff before sewing to prevent bulk and puckers.
Also-
At the joining seams, be certain that the nap lays in the same direction (did try that - works)

Sealion, are you totally lining with furry, or just the edges for show?

I am planning to line the whole thing with the faux fur. There is a SCA event coming up that will be held in a lodge with a fireplace as the only soure of heat so I want something warm to wear.

I havent used faux fur a lot, but I have heard and learned... Shave down the fur really good along the sections you intend to sew.

Also, if you can, cut with a razor from the back side of the pile.  I makes easier clean up.  You can do this with real fur also. 
After sewing a seam together, take a fine comb or pick and pull out the fur that is trapped in the seam.  It will look more complete. 
Have lots of tape lying around to pick up all the fur that lands on fabric.
Wear a mask if you have ANY allergies or breathing problems.
Press seams light open, and glue/tack them down.

I concur with Syrilla on using a razor.

I have a Brass Handled Fur knife that I use for cutting fur be it faux or real from the inside. NEVER USE SICCORS!!!  The fur will end up ;ooking like a bad shag haircut. There will also be fur strands all over the place.

For obtaining a Fur Knife, check with a  local Furrier where they get theirs. Or check online for Furrier supplies.
