Odd Camera Behavior

You can move this to mundane topics if you want; I'm not exactly sure where to put it.

After I've had my camera on for a while, it sometimes starts zooming in and out rather crazily on its own, and other times turns off. When I replace the batteries, it seems fine again. Is it just the camera telling me the batteries are dying?

That sounds like what the problem is.  I have an older digital camera that does the exact same thing when the batteries are shot.
