I figure this is the place to ask.
I am looking for a store online that sell buckles, closures, screw posts etc, that are different from those you find in 90% of the other stores.
maybe buckles that look tribal/rough/handmade

any suggestions??

Not sure what you are using them for but here is a place that sells its findings and they are great to work with.

thanks for all the links guys

Im looking for this kind of closure in particular

and this type of buckle- not necessarily this exact one, but I like the hand forged/beaten kind of old tribal/nomad look.

I've got the lock looking clasp on a journal and a pouch.  I believe that I got them from white pavillion at the Carolina Ren Faire in 2007.  When I went last year they didn't have any.

The latch is called a rotating star latch. Available here:

For buckles...did you try Ebay? Sometime they have odd lot's of things you'll not find elsewhere. In this case I just searched Medieval Buckles:

I've bought lot's from Ebay, not from Performance Armour, but they've been around a while I believe. I will say I have a pouch with the star latch and it's sometimes a bit tricky to close with one hand a full pouch (the other hand often wrapped about a mug or whatever). You might  be happier with the simpler closure.

My pouch isn't to hard to open but it has a standard lacing under the clasp.  The lacing is what actually keeps the pouch closed.  I wonder if performance armor sells just the latches.  I didn't see anything on their site exactly like mine and I'd like to get another larger journal.

Look under "General Hardware" and they have your closures that you wanted.  ;D
So what are you doing this weekend?
I'm going to BARF!!!
You're going to...wait...WHAT???

Anna Iram

Now there's a good site!

Didn't occur to me Performance wouldn't sell the latches individually. Would't hurt to ask and then compare prices.

Go to my website table of contents, and under chapter 39 Jewelry, Wares, Books and other accessories, there is one of the best sites I have ever seen for this kind of stuff including decorative belt tips and everything. Buckles listed by different periods too. Called "Raymond's Quiet Press." Here is my table of contents -
