Actually, where he is in the picture (aside from being on his face) really isn't that bad a position.  Basically, he's laying on his stomach with his knees bent and picking his head up.  I guarantee you that 90% or more of the people reading this can (again, aside from the being on the face part) easily get into that position w/o any trouble.  Now, where he's going to end up after his momentum carries him through the position frozen in the pic...THAT is what's gonna hurt.

I was a physical therapist and athletic trainer (sports medicine specialist) for several years ... many of those overseeing college and pro baseball teams ... and that frozen image in time was one of those "grab my bag and head on out to be sure" moments.  I'd be terribly surprised if 90% of people could get into that catchers' position without trouble (myself included some days  ) much less the other guys' position.  For an athlete or athletic person, controlled movement into that particular position shouldn't be too much of a problem (although not recommended) but for that collision captured in that picture .... Nope, not "safe" from where I'm sitting.  But it sure does make for exciting play!

Yeah, we had a roomie we called "Ogre". Not because he was big and strong like an Ogre, but more because he smelled like one.  That's pretty much how he lived in his room.

Umm... hell that's pretty much what my ex-wives office looked like before I cleaned it after she packed her sh*t and moved out on me one day while I was at work.  I hauled 4 30-gallon trash bags STUFFED FULL out of there, don't EVEN get me started on the amount of foodstuffs that woman had in that room.  ~shudders~
