Greetings, good folk!

I'm thinking of developing a part-time genie/djinn persona, and am looking for costuming and characterization ideas. I don't want to go too 'Barbara Eden', because I want to be a genie, not JeannieTM, but I don't want to go too far in the 'hootchie' direction either. I'm already considering body makeup in either a burnt orange or a burgundy/maroon for a fantasy skin tone and garb in some deep shade of green, but am interested in other suggestions. So far the one accessory I have is a genie bottle to hang from my belt.

What can you think of that might make you say "Hey a genie!" on sight?

What types of garments?
What types of other makeup?
What other accessories?
What might I do with my hair (my natural hair is blonde with auburn tones and hangs stick-straight to the middle of my back)?
What categories of 'stuff' amd I forgetting?

Don't be afraid to suggest something just because it's elaborate, this won't be a full-time persona for me. At most I'm seeing a weekend or two a year. Any and all suggestions are appreciated, including suggestions on genie behavior.

Thanks!

This website is pretty extensive for background:  http://tinyurl.com/bmw3b5

according to it, a djinn or genie is based out of Islamic / Middle Eastern mythology.

Folkwear Patterns has a pretty good idea with their #108 Turkish Dancer and/or #119 for the pants.

What types of garments?
         Wrist bracers;
What types of other makeup?
Kohl outlining your eyes with extra emphasis on the Oriental almond shape

What other accessories?
           Scimitar, maybe?

What might I do with my hair (my natural hair is blonde with auburn tones and hangs stick-straight to the middle of my back)?
Have it in a loose French braid?  My hair is the same way & tangles with the slightest breeze....

What categories of 'stuff' amd I forgetting?
I can't think of anything at the moment, but it's 7:30 am & I haven't had my morning tea yet...  Don't worry about this now; you will think of things to add as you go along.

Here's just a few images for consideration...

This one might be a bit too much I Dream of Jeannie...

I love the big picture in this one...I know it might also be a bit gypsy-ish...but I think you could pull it off for a genie! (As soon as I read your post this pattern came to mind...so I had to find it...then I saw the other patterns.)

Hope this helps!!!
