I will soon enough, Scarborough faire is just around the corner
I had planned to wear it today to the woods of Sherwood forest, but it just wasn't meant to be.

My next quest is to find that perfect pirate hat... its out there

*also questing for more rum... but that's a permanent quest*

Lucky man. We've seen the photos of my nephew's shirt and she's currently working on his doublet and slops. I was impressed  with the stitching and the skull-n-crossbones buttons. Small details make big differences.

Teach it came out well. Looking forward to seeing it worn.

We have a lady here at our faire that makes awsome pirate hats. I have one and love it. A basic felt hat, but trimmed really beautifully. She has a really good eye and makes hat's for the Gasparilla Crewes here in Tampa. I'd be happy to get her card if you'd like, though I don't know if she works with leather if that's more to your liking. I'll ask her today...never know.

*Teach*

I have a plan on the hat... Going to shop for it lol
I honestly don't know what I want exactly for my hat. I have seen hundreds and thousands it seems but never that perfect one... yet.
If you know someone who makes them, then by all means point her my way. The only thing I know is... I do not want a gigantic feather sticking out of it. They look neat on others... annoy the mess out of me when I wear them lol

*Maybe I need the pirate version of a beer hat... with two straws bringing rum down... hmmmm*

I was just laughing with a friend yesterday saying I was gonna make a "Dune" gown. Replace all the hoops and bodice boning with tubing. I think it could work!

Yeah, you'll know the hat when you see it, and the fun is in the shopping. I'll ask her if she makes less frou frou hats all the same. :)

A site where several members of this community ordered their Pirate Hats. Custom made and from what I hear, worth every penny in quality and workmanship. Hope you have a bright moniter, Teach!!  The sirte was redone and hard to see some things.

Been there...seen that. Somebody beat you to the idea.....

I actually have a photo in my DVD archives of something like that that I took at the Kansas City RenFaire (or it may have been Scarby) a few years ago. The guy had a pirate's tri-fold with what looked like two two wooden mugs with the handles shaved off perched up there with bamboo "straws" running downward.

What I remember the most was that the guy's schtick "was really working the Wal-mart mundanes....".

I have also heard good things about "Captjacks''    Another merchant to look into is "Tall Toad". They produce some unique fancy headgear as well..

You know you'll have a queue waiting to pet the coat, don't you?  Beautiful coat & the buttons are crazy cool.
Sveethot!

Ooooh the Fillabuster from CaptJack is a cool shape.

I spoke with Karen today, she does only work with felt. No leather, or treated like some of these.

Have fun shopping. :)

That coat is one to be jealous of for sure!  be sure to post a picture of yourself wearing it for us to see.

I've another place for you to look at for hats.  http://www.pyrate.org/plunder.html

Their hats are all hand made and I believe that they will do custom orders if you like.  I have a hat that I bought from them a few years back (I'm wearing it in my profile pic) and it's served me well so far.
