I am planning my first ever trip to this Ren Fest (I'm a die hard Scarby-er) and was wondering if someone could give a thumbs up/thumbs down for some of the local hotels.

Im hoping to be there for opening weekend.

Dark Wizard
Anál nathrach- Breath of serpent
Orth' bháis 's bethad- Spell of death and of life
Do chél dénmha- Thy omen of making

Zaubon

We're different down here. Grab a tent and join us in the campground. That's the real fun of this faire. The faire itself is great, but the campground is fantastic.

Thanksgiving weekend is when we usually plan on going again. Unfortunately that weekend is a camping nightmare, so we stay at the La Quinta in Tomball.
Nice, well-maintained hotel with a good breakfast.
Aurum peccamenes multifariam texit
Marquesa de Trives

I concur with both Z and Dona. If you like to camp the campgrounds are more fun than you can stand, if not the the La Quinta in Tomball is nice. Most of the others in Magnolia and Tomball are not so nice. There are many on I-45, but I haven't stayed in any of them.
Don't forget to smell the roses, but watch out for the thorns!

It's quite sad, but you really do have to go all the way to Tomball, or perhaps east to I45 or up to Hwy 105 to find a decent hotel. The one in Magnolia appears to make a point of jacking their rates up during the run of faire, which I have always found to be opportunistic and unfriendly. There really isn't anything much better within a short drive.

To be honest, TRF could do well to try to forge some business relationships with some hotels within 20 miles or so. A "preferred" price for people having TRF admission tickets or something.
Do not burden yourself with the secrets of scary people.

conroe is about 25 - 30 miles away up HWY 105 and has lots of hotel options.. the woodlands has good ones too and is maybe 35 miles away or so. I have to drive from Huntsville which is like an hour so I don't view 30 miles as much :D I camped for the first time this year and it was fun.. needed a bigger tent... but it was awesome to make a whole weekend of it! :D

really, camping is the way to go....as there are no good hotels within driving distance....especially drunk driving distance...lol.

Faehollow, what road do you take from huntsvegas get to faire?

FaeHollow

I drive down to 1097 and exit 45 and take 1097 out to 105. is there a faster way? lol

Oh yeah drunk driving distance IS the campground :P

I don't think there is a faster way to faire, honestly. I used to take 45 to 1488 and go through magnolia....but I think that took longer just due to traffic from the patrons coming in from Houston. So now I take 45 to 105....

Your way has less lights, my way has faster speed limits...lol. So its a trade off.
