Rough seas ahead....

My father has been fighting kidney disease since 2000.  He's lived 9 years with something that people normally live past 3 with.  We've been very blessed in that.  Had our share of ups and downs.  He's been on his death bed three times and recovered (to an extent, of course).  One kidney is dead, the other is starting to lose function.... and they don't know if dialysis would help him or not.  Transplant is out of the question b/c the artery that runs from his aorta to his kidney is thinning & they have no idea what's causing it.  In order to examine that they'd have to run a test involving die that has a 50-60% chance of killing the kidney.

So, it's coming down to the wire...

The docs are wanting to run the test, put a stint in his aorta... and place him on dialysis.

However, if his kidney stabilizes, and his creatinine levels go down, he won't need the dialysis & the docs will rethink the procedure.

Please pray for him and the healing of his kidney.   Please pray for Mom as well.... she always holds up well during these rough patches, but this is looking to be extremely rough for her.  Thank you, and may God bless you all.

Sending prayers for your family and lighting three candles, one for healing, one for strength, and the last candle is for guidance. Keep positive, cherish these moments like gold and hug your mom frequently.  Peace and blessings.

Thank you all very, very much.  Words cannot express my gratitude for your prayers and thoughts.  It's steadily becoming more and more difficult, but I know God will see us through it.

We are nervously awaiting a schedule from his (general) doctor.  It is going to be difficult to find a doctor willing to do the aorta stint as he is such a high risk patient.  *sigh*  Thank you all again for your prayers and thoughts.  Please continue to keep Dad & Mom in your prayers.  God bless y'all.

Thank you all very much for your prayers.  I continue to keep all of you in mine as well.. especially those going through rough seas of their own.

Dad was placed in the hospital late Wednesday night.  They did an emergency procedure (placed the stint in his right renal artery).. his creatinine and other levels bounced around, then dropped to 5.2.. (he was at 6.8 Friday before last.. which is supposedly .02 away from a heart attack).. they released him late Sunday night.

Currently awaiting a call from his kidney specialist to find out what's next.  Sounds like they're going to be setting him up for home dialysis.

Worse news then that though... we're going to have to meet with a heart surgeon.  Dad now has a descending thoracic (?) aneurysm that is 5 cm in diameter and runs from his chest down in to his abdomen.  *sigh*  It's huge.  and we don't know if there is anything they can do about it b/c of its length.

Please continue to pray for him and Mom.  They're both wore out... and it seems as though it's all just getting started.  :P  God bless you all.
