Almost 8 months after the thread was created, 1229 posts, and almost 18,000 views we're still going strong. Yay! :D

Keep bringing the photos and stories, new guns and trinkets coming!

Still Meggers, just a little more grown up now. :)

One of these days I'm gonna make myself some Steampunk garb, and Elizabeth, that's exactly what I had in mind. I so want an excuse to wear a big bustle with lot's of flounces. So cute! You and your sister always make such perfect things.

Everybody looks awesome by the way. :) I so wish we had a Steampunk event down here.

I wish there was more Steampunk everywhere!!!  And I agree, Anna... everyone looks wonderful!!!  All together, we've taken this from a simple question thread to something of a movement, at least here in the forums, and I'm thoroughly impressed by what we've all accomplished in just the last few months!  You all ROCK SO HARD it hurts!!!  :D

Full STEAM ahead...  ;)

I totally agree, you know I didn't really even know what steampunk was before this thread... then I fell in love with it and made my own gown!!  haha...  so it has done wonders for me!  Thanks to you all who really have posted some great and inspiring stuff!!

Elo, I guess if we knew more people at the con and got invited to rooms and such, it would have been better.  The only folks we knew well were not drinkers...

I knew what it was before this thread, but this gave me the motivation to do something about a long-standing interest. Including my own SP garb, a trip to Chicago for WindyCon, and an upcoming visit to ComicPalooza here in town, which has as a subtheme, SP.  I find it a fresh, open-minded movement, with the accent being on handwork and beauty in all things, including work-a-day.    I only wish that there were more (actually, any) occasions to haul out the finery in Houston.

I found this article the other day I thought you might appreciate about a Japanese SP watch maker named Haruo Suekichi that, according to the article below, started selling his watches at flea markets over 13 years ago for about $28!! :o

My jaw dropped.  There are more of these amazing OOAK pieces here.  Just wish the site was in English.

I'm sorry for the confusion.  I meant the second link that I put on the word "here" above, which I think is an online shop in Tokyo.

Ho, yez, Hy vill be dere.  I stopped in at Midnight Comics on Saturday to talk with John, the proprietor & organizer of CP.  He'd just gotten word that Ray Park, the body actor of Darth Maul, will be appearing.  There will also be a belly dancer - name forgotten - who will be doing an sp dance performance and he asked if I knew of any steamers, other than myself, who will be attending.

I'll be going in Girl Genius ensemble, either as Mamma Gkika, if I can cough up the nerve.  Or as a new Jaegergurl, Taffy, if time permits & Cheyenne gets it colored in time for me to use the sketch as a basis.  Anyone else coming?

There was a belly dancer doing a SP routine at the Tribal show two weeks ago.. have to dig out the program and see her name.  Geisha Moth has some steamy stuff for sale - I got arm warmers/snake arms there.  Very neat.
