I think I have a copy of Arcanum around somewhere.  Certainly not a new game but I do recall enjoying it for a bit.  Prob got distracted my a MMorpg.  Might have to dig it out to fill all this spare time I have...

*nods* I agree, you can find many useful links on steampunk in this thread. I can't exactly remember when I found out about steampunk (been within the last few years) and this was, I believe, the first steampunk website I came across: http://etheremporium.pbworks.com/Wiki It condenses a lot of steampunk links into one area. Happy searching!

Now, I had a question for the ones attending the Steampunk Invasion at TRF. Is anyone planning on bringing modified plastic guns as a prop? I'm back and forth on whether I want to do so.

Selkie, if you flip back through the pages of this thread you'll see quite a few mods, and read descriptions of others, that will be making appearances at TRF.  Happy hunting!!!

I've got a gun that has a neat trick that I may bring unmodified - may.  I'll be carrying something reticule-ish as a purse since I don't want to clutter up my outfit w/a belt & all kinds of tschotzkes, including of course a gun.  I think a lot of it boils down to whether your character would be armed

I may just bring a small pistol, like a squirt gun, as maybe this selkie wants to dissuade cocky bachelors that would want to snatch my sealskin.  ;D

I got some awesome boots at the Las Vegas Star Trek Convention this past weekend.  They're from a company called RomWear (like Romulans from Star Trek) & the guy sold them to me as opposed to carrying them back on the plane.  I need some toe socks but other than that they're great.

I'm also looking at getting some of the star cloud pants & one of the long vests.  I believe my Steampunk theme is going to lean towards pirate.

If anyone comes across some Victorian type shoes that are flats (without heels) let me know.

Size?  Color?

I have a wide foot - size 9, preferably black in color for shoes
Being Blond means I have the right to walk into any wall.

I've been intrigued by the idea of creating a steampunk outfit and toying with the possibilities for months. I've been collecting interesting bits of brass and have found a vintage umbrella and an opera cape. I got caught up in the madness of the Midnight Madness sale at Pennsic last week and ordered a custom mini top hat and goggles from The Blonde Swan! :happydance:
Now that hubby spent that much money on the hat I need to get it in gear (no pun intended :giggle:) and finish my outfit before Labor Day!

Before Labor Day!?!?!   :o  Wow... now that's industrious!  I'll be lucky in the extreme if I get everything ready by All Hallows...  LOL

At least I'll have fewer distractions in a few days, now that school is almost here again.  ::)  Maybe I can finally get some things done...

Well I have started the build up of steampunk stuff for our new outfits...  I bought my sis and I each a beautiful pocket watch with chain, a very cool monocle to wear as a necklace, a really need compass, and some opera glasses.  I think they are a great start.  Not sure exactly yet the character, but maybe some kind of classy adventure/scientist lady... or something like that.

Just a suggestion, I'm not really doing the steampunk thing myself but some friends of mine went to a local clock repair shop and were able to buy the innards from a few grandfather clocks quite cheaply (also because the place is closing soon, but still! can't hurt to ask!). So they've got gears and chains and other random fiddly brass bits and all sorts of things.

Figure it's another place to look. :)
