I'm too lazy to pack tonight (leaving for WI tomorrow) so I think I'll edit some pics. :D

Rani & Taffy- If your ordered corsets do not arrive and you need something in a hurry I suggest that you try Timeless-trends.com. I ordered from them after several live journal steamfashion members reccomended them for inexpensive but well made corsets. They only offer underbust corsets but that means that you only have to worry about your waist measurement when ordering. The corsets are "off the rack" and shipped within 24 hours. Mine arrived in a matter of days and I am extremely pleased with it after wearing it all three days this past weekend.

I wish I could do this, but I can't buy anything else until I get the money back from this purchase, so I may have to try my hand at making something this time, since I doubt seriously that I'll get it back in time to buy anything else.  My problem is that my waist is much smaller than my hips, and the generic sizes just don't cover the difference, so off the rack seldom works for me for anything besides skirts.  My bodice won't work, either, because it's a tabbed front-and-side lace-up, ending at my waist, and gives none of the Victorian look.   :(

I've already opened the dispute case, but I'm not going to escalate it to a claim until the end of this week, unless they continue to avoid my emails and calls.  Perhaps a well placed, strongly worded threat to spread a general warning about them on the largest Renaissance Festival forum in the world, populated by women (and grandly dressed, corseted Fops) who attend Faires all over this country, buying garb (or more importantly, NOT buying garb) on the recommendations of women just like us, might convince them to at least answer, eh?!?  LOL

As stated in the entry, more clockpunk than steampunk, but here's the Da Vinci aviator. http://community.livejournal.com/steamfashion/2045238.html But hey, who says Renpunks don't exist?  ;)

Artemesia created a beautiful ensemble, didn't she? I find the pleated & piped bodice construction fascinating!

Just saw the movie "9" at the theater, lots of steampunk elements and aesthetics in the film. Go see it! It might be short, but it really was a sweet flick. :)

I saw Ponyo this weekend - one of the characters is rather steamy and has a cool submarine -  will get out to see 9 when the rain lets up.

I'll be there at the first showing Friday morning.  Hope it's not too "kiddie".  Animation really needs to stake a better claim on more "legitimate" movies.

(sigh...) Wish I could go see it soon, but finances dictate a later viewing... like maybe next month!  Hope this snafu with my checks gets cleared up soon...  :-\

I agree on the animation gripe, Grov... haven't seen too many good grown-up anime movies since Heavy Metal (which produced my all-time FAV movie quote, EVAR, btw...).

Well, 9 was rated PG-13, but don't really expect any blood, since most of the characters aren't human, but it wasn't too kiddie at all, in my opinion.

OMFurreakin'G!!! This is just too amazing!!!  Photostream slideshow of the SteamPunk fashion show, parade and other events at DragonCon this last weekend!!!  I still haven't hit the end, and I've been drooling over it for a few hours now...  :o

This is enough to set anyone to spontaneously Spark at random intervals!!!  I'm torn between watching the screen and sitting at my work table creating!!!  Gaaaahhh!!!  ROFL

Please note all the really cool Steam Fairies...
