There is going to be a pretty cool Halloween gathering south of Dallas...TRF.
I hope my life is an epic tale that ends well and everyone likes to read. --Grovdin Dokk

What Grov said!

Finally got my spark re-ignited today & spent a happy hour + at Ace picking out some plumbing hardware to finish my walking stick.  Also registered for WindyCon.  So things are moving along!

I've been building a cane. So far it looks pretty good, I just need to stain it, dress it up, and decide which topper I want on it....I have 4 that would work.

In fact one of the toppers I have multiple copies of that I might be willing to part with...that or I'll design a few new canes with them and sell them completed...hmmm. I'll post pictures of the completed product.

Just dunked my underskirt in the terracotta dye, and will be leaving it over night.  I hope it takes evenly!

I found a few things to take apart at garage sales yesterday that seem like they'd have gears inside, and I'm just sitting down to the craft table now...  :D

Hope everyone is having a Steamy weekend!!!

What a very full day I had.  Had to hit Target for a plastic tub for fabric/scraps & PetSmart for dog/cat food.  My son & I went to the Terra Cotta Warriors exhibit at the Houston Museum of Natural Science and dinner after.

I think I may make a walking skirt for Saturday's daytime schedule at WC w/the lavender taffeta I've stashed.  It should be okay w/a white blouse  Maybe make a little matching capelet, lined w/flannel for warmth, in lieu of a jacket and all trimmed w/grosgrain ribbon?  I've got to get cracking.

The Lady Mercedes

Outside of Faire I dress either 60's or goth so I've heard about steampunk. I dress victorian when I go all out but it's cute nonetheless lol. Here's a link to tell a little more about it...http://www.blackwaterfall.com/21_steampunk_goth.php
Why be mundane when you can be a Rennie?!

Lady B, thanks for the interesting link and welcome!

Sunday evening - just need to do the fasteners.  May finish my Mamma Gkika skirt to take, even though I won't be wearing the bewbie bodice.  Not a good look on a woman my age.

Holy crap! SO a friend showed me that the other day and she was saying how she wants to recreate it with tails, which for her current ability is WAY over her head, but more power to her. I was so inspired by itothat I've deisnged this ridiculous leather vest with straps and buckles and all kinds of nonsense. its got the same front, no sleeves, and its kind of halterish, with crossed straps buckled across the back, kinda suspender like, and buckles to cinch in across the back with tails...I think its going to be awesome, when I get around to finding the leather for it.
Things are shaping up to be...
Pretty. Odd.

Blargh!  I seem to have run out of steam. :(

Won't be going to SteamCon.  Didn't pre-order my tickets in time, and there's no way I'll make it in time on Friday before they sell out.  Not that I have anything to wear.  I have made no further progress on my costume.  I've been so busy, and fighting off a bit of a cold or something, that the little bit of time I've had where I could have been sewing, I just didn't have the energy to do it.  :(

Ok, done venting.  I've still got 2 weeks to Halloween, so I can definately get the costume sewn by then.  I'm setting myself a goal:  have at least the skirt and corset done by the end of Saturday, with pictures of them (and my goggles) shared on Monday.  Neither item will take that long once I sit down and work on it.  I've given up on sewing a shirt before Halloween, but I already have one that will work.  Yell at me if I don't share anything on Monday. :)

Taffy, I love that cane.  Very cool.

I'ts so easy to run out of steam.  I've got a pattern for a gorgeous ropa that I bought late last year, together w/some wonderful gold damask (?) and I just can't seem to pull it together enough to get started.  The major problem is that the pattern is not full length & I need to get some butcher paper or something.  Why in hell would you sell a pattern that needs more work to make it usable?

Elennare, I'll be looking for your pics.  The cane is heeeaaavvvy, but the majority of the weight is in the handle.  I look forward to taking it for a walk on AHE & at WC.  I'll probably be pulled over for the special inspection at the airport as I'll be wearing a top hat & carrying the Revenge on board w/me.  Not to mention the HUGE suitcase for a two night stay.

My problem is that I keep taking on more and more projects, and I don't even have time for the ones I'm already committed to...  ::)

Ok, so I have my underskirt dyed (which turned out really nice), and I'm also darkening a coral colored shirt so I don't waste the rest of this dye, and so I'll have something to wash the skirt with...

Just about finished with favors, and I have one last component of this S/P project to pick up today, then I'll be almost finished with that...

I think I've decided which fabric I'm going to use for the side panels of my over-skirt... and the only other things I have to do to it are set the grommets for the lacing and hand stitch the brown under-layer to the underskirt (take about 30 minutes), then my garb will be done.
