From LARF hosts Capt.SIN and Pat McGroin and the BS Krew

The Louisiana Renaissance Festival is a small, yet quaint festival offering a festive marketplace and village atmosphere.  There are about 100 merchants, and there are 7 different stages with live jousting, musical entertainers such as Craig of Farrington, the Limey Birds, the Tortuga Twins, the New Minstrel Review and many others.  There are educational shows and shows for the kids as well.  The Louisiana Renaissance Festival also has one of the lowest gate fees of any of the festivals we have visited with adult ticket prices only $14 (as per the LARF website www.la-renfest.com).

The festival runs from Nov. 7 through Dec. 13.  The preferred Rendevous weekend would be closing weekend so as not to interfere with any other festival going on in the country.  It would also be a great chance to complete any last minute Christmas Shopping, and the weather should be quite comfortable (not too hot and not too cold...at least that's how it's been the last several years.)

The festival does offer limited on-site camping for $20/weekend and does offer a few spots with electricity for an additional fee.  However, the Bayou Scoundrels have about 10 acres cleared where we live, about 20 minutes from faire. We will offer free primitive camping along with a Friday Night Pig Roast and keg beer (for a small fee) for those who want to camp at our homestead.  Because of the tight economy, we thought it would be great to have a place for a Friday night gathering where we could drink and visit without having to spend money at a bar.  For those who prefer, there are several hotels near the fair and one about a mile and a half from our home.  In addition, there are two major airports nearby (BTR (Baton Rouge) and MSY (New Orleans) for those who will need to fly in.

From Scarborough hosts Blue66669, Duckie84, and eloquentXI

Scarborough Renaissance Festival is located in Waxahachie, TX, just south of Dallas. This is a well established permanent faire site, complete with flushable privies, a vast amount of food choices, and pubs around every corner serving many fine ales. Here you will find 21 stages with over 200 performances daily, with some of your favorites such as Owain Phyfe, Iris and Rose, The Bard O'Neill, and Cast in Bronze. The faire itself sits on 35 acres of land, with a gorgeous spring creek running through the middle.

Scarby runs from April 10th to May 31st (Memorial Day Weekend 2010), featuring a three day weekend for closing. Admission is 22.00 for adults, 8.50 for children, and kids 4 and under are free (there are discounts for group tickets, of course). There are accommodations just a short distance from the faire, as well as a Cedar Hill State Park and Lake Bardwell available for camping and RV's. Prices at the local motels/hotels are fairly reasonable ($50-100 per night).

You should choose Scarborough faire because it has a natural charm to it that can't be duplicated anywhere else. It's a place where the outside world just melts away and leaves the fantasy for you to take part in. Spend your afternoons by the creek, chatting with the Royal Courtesan, and evenings lost in the magic of court dancing. Cheer for the favorites at the Human Chess Match, or lose yourself to the otherworldly sounds of Wine and Alchemy. Whatever your fancy is, we have it here in Texas. Come on out and play with us, we're waiting to show you some old fashioned Southern Hospitality!

Visit the faire on the web at www.scarboroughrenfest.com!

From AZRF hosts Viscomte de Arcadia and Julianne

There is so much to be said about Arizona Renaissance Festival, it just cannot be said in one or two paragraphs, but I will try.
Our plan, if we are lucky to be the faire chosen, is to host Rendevous during Presidents Day weekend, Feb 12-15, 2010. With the sheer number of hotels and camping choices within 30min of the faire site, finding a place to stay will be easy for those who attend.

We are the first faire of the year, every year. Why not dig yourself out of the winter snow and ice and come to sunny Arizona? , average daytime temps are in the high 60s to low 70's.

Get to be the first to see what the top names in entertainment have in store for the rest of the year. And with names like Owain Phyfe, Tortuga Twins, Hey Nunnie Nunnie, Tartanic, Adam Crack and more, you will see the best first!

Santa leave something with dollar signs on it in your stocking? We have shopping experiences here that will have leave even the pickiest Rennie with choices galore. Garb names like Pendragon and Boss Wench, jewelry, weapons, leather goods, musical instruments, even a Ren book store. Get the jump on your friends and do your shopping for the upcoming season now!

Food and Beverages? We got em!.  All the faire foods you know and love, and a few you have never heard of. And we are one of only a few faires that have beer, wine, and hard spirits for sale on the grounds. All top shelf, all for your enjoyment.

And there will be very special events for Rendevous participants only, our own personal photographer to not only take group pictures, but will be on hand to take candid photos for your enjoyment and for publication, and will have an exclusive area for special portraits, Friday night meet and greet, Sat morning breakfast before cannon, private party with special musical guest Sat night, masquerade ball Sun night and more to be planned.

So why not come out West and see our beautiful faire? Special memories and times await you!

From Sterling hosts irish, SterlingFan, and Tygrkat

~Sterling Renaissance Festival {1585}~

Nestled on the shore of Lake Ontario, the village of Warwick, awaits the good Queen Elizabeth's arrival. The villagers begin to prepare their wares and foods, for festival day!
The kiln and glory hole, are ready for glass blower. What will it be today? A fluted bowl, a wine glass or a delicate rose? Samples of his talent, glisten in the sun light.
The Black Smith, strokes the fire, with bellows. The hammering on the the anvil, can be heard across the shire. New eating utensils, Chain mail, a Kilt brooch and candle sconces are offered for sale.
Down the path, the smells of exotic spices, flowers and oil, fill the scenes. Sample the scents, seduce a lover! Incense entices the nose.....musk, sage, sandalwood, lavender and rose.
Seamstress', make last minute touches to gowns and chemise. Intricate sewing, embroidery and lace, are carefully stitched. Doublets, shirts and trousers, are ready for miLord.
Leather, is carefully crafted into boots, money purses and miLady's bags, are splendidly made. Deer bone buttons are applied. Gloves, kilt belts, sandals and jewelry are also produced with talent.
The smells of turkey legs, mile high cakes, chicken fingers, the royal spuds, pork pockets and other tantalizing treats, fill the morning air. Pretzels and chocolate chip cookies, from the fine bakery, are brought to the visitors.
The pubs are hustling for the days activities. Kegs of ale and bottles of the finest mead, are being prepared, just for the many visitors to the shire!
The Queen's Tea, for her Majesty and ladies of the shire, is made ready. Teacups and saucers of delicate china, are placed on white linen tablecloths. Queen Elizabeth, will demonstrate the proper manners and etiquette, for hosting an afternoon tea.
As flags and banners, blow in the breeze at the jousting arena, Knights ready their steeds, for the days jousting contest. After-all, the Queen will sit in judgment of them!
Cannon fire echoes across the shire! PIRATES! Those dastardly, scurvy men of the sea! Wait....they were invited to join the festivities! (Roll out the ale, boys!)
The shire also extends a welcome to our Celtic 'cousins'.  Bagpipes play, dancing begins........we all reveal in the sounds! Handsome men in kilts! (Put away those mirrors, you haughty Wenches!)
Games are readied for the merriment of all. Axe toss, bow & arrow, mud pit toss and the ever popular tomato throw!
Walking down the path, one can hear loud voices and laughter! Ahhh, the Sheriff has caught a Rouge and wants the group surrounding them, to make a decision of his fate! What would you decide? The stocks, executioner block or the Trail and Dunke Pond?
A glance to left and people begin bowing.....the Queen! She walks up to the scene and asks what is going on here? The Sheriff explains and the Rouge is pardon, by her Majesty.  (Lucky chap!)
Hmmmmm, will it be you, caught by the Sheriff, next time?? Maybe you will need the help of the villagers! Warwick is mysterious. Be on the lookout!
Notes from instruments, of the many musicians, float across the shire. Their sounds beckoning one and all, to visit Warwick, on this festival day!
