I will be bringing up my Coleman water heater/pump and a shower enclosure. Actually, I'll probably bring everything up this weekend, so I won't forget it (us old folks tend to forget things, especially when we mis-place our reminder lists). I'll bring enough propane gas bottle for about 20 hot showers and some water jugs (will have to refill from the onsite water source). I can recharge the water heater battery at my travel trailer that is onsite, unless there is a closer power source. Bring your own soap and towels.

For the 8th, I have my submarine veterans meeting until noon, after which I have to load the dogs and then head up to the site (2 hour drive).

Is there a list of what dishes folks are bringing? I don't have time to fix my chicken Michiel or my lemon rosemary Cornish game hens that I fix for TRF, but I can bring a cheese tray or some other store bought item.

There's a Brookshire Bros. Grocery Store, a Pizza Hut, and a really good Sandwich/Pizza shop called Reba's in Giddings on Hwy 290.  Those are probably the closest to the Sherwood Forest Faire site.

I believe I'll be there on 8-Aug-09, bringing an axe with me to help cut roots and vines.  I'm VERY allergic to Poison Ivy/Oak/Sumac, but I don't always recognize them immediately --- hopefully someone there can help me stay clear of the poisonous plants.  Thanks!

On a slightly different subject, I created an event on the Clan McLotofus Facebook page for this event. This does not mean that McLotofus is sponsoring, endorsing or anything else with this event other than I wanted to communicate that it is taking place to those who might not read all the threads here. I apologize if that caused confusion, I was just trying to boost attendance, not hijack the event or give the impression that Sherwood Forest Faire and Clan McLotofus are in any way associated with one another other than as a group of playtrons and a faire venue.

rengypsy

that sounds great.

we want all the links on clan sites possible.

likewise, we welcome ye to our faire with open arms...and hope it becomes your faire.

we thanks thee!

and as a footnote to an earlier concern: while there is some occasional poison ivy, it is not prevalent on the land...and hardly at all, if any, within the faire grounds proper.  i too am quite allergic to the nasty vine.

cheers,

rengypsy

The Main Gate and Sign visible from Hwy 290, and "stockade" type fence across the back along Old Hwy 20 are pretty impressive.  Some buildings are also visible from Old Hwy 20.

Rengypsy,

Which entrance do we use (Hwy 290 or Old Hwy 20) for the August 8th event?

just to the east of the billboards is a entry with a white 4' x 8' sign with the letters "SWFF" and a butterfly kite stapled to the sign.  thats the entry being used right now.

almost exactly 1.7 miles west of the highway 21 intersection with us highway 290...or .6 miles east of old potato rd ... on the "north" side.

just make enough for a family. then we all share...

no worries, one way or another.

several outings had 100-125 folk.  the last was over 300.

likewise, we floated three kegs the last gathering...and music played until dawn.

unsure what august gathering will bring.

all different.

all great!
