Where do you get the Scotch eggs?

Queen's Pantry... come in the gate and hang right.  maybe 30-40 paces from the entrance.

My friends and I usually usually meandered in to the shaded area just insyde the gates, drifted toward the right, got a scotch egg, and the first beer of the day (inside the gates, outsyde 1st beer was much, much earlier  ;)).

We'd then leisurely stroll along that side, mostly people watch, stop to be photographed...often, make initial acquaintances, peruse a shop or two, work our way around through the Greek section. Then we'd head to the Sea Devil, refresh our mugs, see more friends and then work our way back to catch the parade and then grab a great spot to take in the Chain Maille show (GO ELEMENT of AIR!!! ROWRRR!!  ;D).

From there, we'd scatter like a covey of quail (IF we made it that far together). I usually follow the drift of my boots from there - those who are familiar with the comic strip Family Circus know the maps of Billy's travels...mine is QUITE SIMILAR!

I always make a point of: catching Wine n' Alchemy (especially their cover of Led Zepplin's Cashmir), heckling/terrorizing th' Tomato Toss bloke, talking with th' Llamas (Tony n' Dolly doncha know), popping into Prince o' Wales fer a Prime Rib trencher, laying on the grass hill listening to Cast in Bronze.

Around dusk I'd sit at the Pavilion to have a cappucino and a cigar t' reflect on th' day thus far, then drift t' the Sea Devil to catch up with friends and to watch closing fireworks. Finish off faire and get ready for the night of partying ahead by jamming with Tartanic just outsyde the gates.

First thing I usually go to the Queen's Pantry for a Scottich  Egg & Coffee, then watch the dancing while I have breakfast.  Then to see Ravic at Creative Life Booksellers. Then go visit with Dan Thompson at his shop, then visit with Truly at the SeaDevil, then visit PurpleDragon at the Pirate Shop, then visit Blue at the leather shop.  (Gee, I hadn't realized I am such a social person.)  Then to wherever the wind blows me till noon.  Then it is the POV for the parade and the meet & greet.  After that I leave it all up to StudMuffin as by then I am just along for the ride.

We try and make pre-cannon and say hi to a few friends. Wander in watch the gate show. Then hit a few shops, friends and shows no particular order. Meet at the POW for meet and greet and parade. Find lunch, then back to wandering. Then the Sea Devil for Iris and Rose's Train Wreck and fireworks. Wander to gate and drive over to camp and hang till ready to go home if not camping. I never seem to make enough show, but always have fun!
Don't forget to smell the roses, but watch out for the thorns!

Depends on the day, last season I had a different routine for Sat. and Sunday.

Usually, get up, meander down in the directions of the POW and then the Sea Devil, usually get stopped and deterred off in one way or another, see someone, stop chat, find a shop I wanna stop into. And that's usually how my day goes. Meander to the other side of faire, then head back to the Sea Devil. Go to POW for Meet 'n Greet/take photos of/after the Parade. Go out to Kastle K'Zar to see Blue, go back to the POW.
On Sundays though, last season, my routine was to get up and head in with Element of Air, let her go get her chainmaille, then wander off for awhile, then come back, take photos from my perch by Lord Randolphs, and take photos of her and a few other people dancing during the Chainmail Show. From there, we usually wander off to see Chris (EoA's boy) and then usually to the Sea Devil or POW.

Who knows how it will go this season? :)
Still Meggers, just a little more grown up now. :)

I usually go only once a year because of the distance from Dallas. So, I spend most of my time wondering around, looking at shops, eating, and stumbling on an act that looks interesting. If I come across one of my Scarby friends then I have to stop and talk a little bit.

Last year I went with the Scottish Regiment, so I had to interrupt that with gathering for parade and then marching. Not sure yet if we are doing that again this year.

If there is some special event I might make time to be there. Last year it was the Antiques Rogue Show.

Like Sir Richard Bear at Scarby I have places I have to be most of the time so my day is not all that flexible. At TRF I can just relax and do whatever I feel like at the time.

I do TRF from the door of my booth watching the world stagger by. TRF is by far one of the greatest people watching places in America.   ;D  I'm directly across from the POW so I have a great view of most of the front section of the faire. I don't get out of the booth much, so I'm not able to join you at the POW that often even tho I can see you. Need to speak to my evil boss.. oh, wait, I am the evil boss.

My day starts about 8AM & often ends after 8PM, which makes for a tired little rencat. But it's worth it.

I go in, I wander, but in the recent trips (over the "years" of being a time traveler), I'm on active and passive search. Passive search for any interesting shot, passive/active for another version of a shot made in a previous trip, a "sought for shot in the catalogue". Example, sisters enjoying the faire, such as surveying the jewelry counter. "Comraderie", taken in the mid 90's, is another shot in the catalogue that I am always looking to recreate.

And then there is active, where I am looking for a particular personalty. If I recall correctly, "Portraint of a Warrior" was made within 30 minutes of arrival:

I try to be in position for Lord Randolph's show.

But the parade at TRF is not high on my list (it is at Scarborough); maybe I just haven't found the right angle yet.

As the day moves on, I try to search out in the active phase familiar faces.

Even though their style from trip to trip may catch me off guard.

As the day moves into evening, it becomes easier to find people entranced in like activities through friendship

or love.

I may pick up a souvenier earlier but it will probably be later when I finally buy something from a shop, either a figurine or artwork.....though on last trip, I bought my katana. And eventually, the light fades and the day ends.

Oh gosh, I love you, girl.

Welp, that's just what we do, yaknow!

   Perhaps someday we need to leave our boys at the bar and just go OUT for the day, eh??

I like that idea, but only if we take the plastic with us!!!
