I was asked today how I could be a rennie and serve... this is why. You all are amazing and so supporting to all of our troops. Thanks! With out your support, I don't know what we'd do.
Cake or death...? What kind of options are these?!

My natural reaction when thanked for service is to say, " I didn't really do anything".  I would like to thank those who served in more dangerous and harsh duties than I did.  I was just a submariner.  Safe from pretty much anything other than human error.

Well spoken words, MPullen.  I'd also like to point out that your votes supporting veterans are an even bigger thanks.  When Sholo said he was going to send the Memorial Flags from Scarby to where the soldiers where dying the most, I had to tell him it's right here in the USA.  Not to take anything away from all those brave souls in combat zones but when the wars are not on the television anymore, the damaged veterans of those wars carry the effects forever more.
I hope my life is an epic tale that ends well and everyone likes to read. --Grovdin Dokk

Several of the young people who grew up within the Guild are now serving or have served.  A large number of the more senior members are veterans-both male and female.  Too many folks who have the wrong impression of faire view us as just a bunch of dopers or old hippies.  Those who are faire know this is not the case.  My guess is that we're just not bigots.

(Minor rant generated by the ongoing problems related to finding sites.  I don't see why NIMBY should apply to faires.  Apologies for getting off topic.)

Just a submariner? Okay, what boats were you on? I'm going to contact your old COB and ask him to give you some lessons on being "just a submariner".
