The topic of this thread is the raised camping fee.

It is a bummer.  If we don't camp, then we don't have to pay the extra cash.  If we decide to camp then, well, we pay.  The economy is pinching everyone and I hate to see the fee go up, but I will not let it deter me from camping and enjoying myself.  I will adjust my budget accordingly or whatever I need to do.

Well that is the thing about any private park, football stadium or baseball field, they can suck us dry and we just keep giving over the cash like cows, lol!

Then don't go. That's the beauty of free expression. No one is holding a gun to your head. There are other private campsites close by or a hotel/motel.

Can we please watch the language?
It's not a matter of censoring, its a matter of politeness.

Thank you!

Why?  Colorful language is a part of us humans, is it not?  I thought most of us
were/are adults and can handle colorful language.

What I am disappointed with, is the mere fact that my words are censored, without provocation or question.

One can be polite while cussing.  It's only a matter of perspective.

edit -- and btw, if all you care about that is you're offended by the language, then you just aren't getting the message.  It's just not that hard to read.

Hi Abbynormal,

I'm speaking out of turn, Sir Martin is the moderator of the TRF forum.

This message board is configured to replace several bad words with something else.
We like it that way because it makes the forum more appealing to others.
We're a diverse group and keeping the language polite is a small price to pay for their company.

Cheers!

Sir Martin

Hey guys ... I for one am glad to see that folks are passionate about all aspects of TRF.  The campgrounds are part of the long and storied history of our grand faire and I believe it is legitimate to ask why the camping fees are increasing.  During our discussion, let's try to keep the proceedings commensurate to a "PG" level.  The reason for this is because, unlike John's Inn, this forum can be accessed by anyone of any age at any time without even establishing an account at renaissancefestival.com.  Even Christophe and Sound & Fury give disclaimers before their shows.   ;)

I understand the intensity of emotion when faced with expenses that seem hard to justify.  Hopefully TRF management will help clarify this for us in the near future.

Ok seriously guys we are complianing about at most $80 more than last year for the entire season? I look at it like this, yes it is $10 more than it has been to camp, and yes it may be a false since of security, but really how many people who are complaining about it waste $ 10 on needless crap every week and continue to justify that. I am not saying that I really support the raised fee but is it really worth getting worked up over? Go to fair have fun and pay the extra $10 if you want to camp. If you start saving now you can put back $80 at less than $8 a week. Lol come on guys it's $10

Well they did clear more land and put in two new roads the last couple of years.  That at least is something for the increase.  given the increase in my WSG bill the last couple of years I'm sure their trash bill has gone up too.  Since my insurance has gone up I'm sure theirs has too.  Still all things togeather its cheaper than the alternatives.  There are things we can control and things we can't this is one we can't.  As for the the reason being BS comparied to the BS we get from the government, union thugs, corporate thugs, etc this is small cap bs.

Is it $20 per day or $20 to get in and stay regardless of the duration?

It is $20 per weekend with ticket to camp.

Riot

Its $20 per car for the weekend.

We drive from MN with 6-8 people in our van, they look at our plates and don't bother asking for tickets.

Isn't it still a great deal cheaper than shelling out the $200-300 for a hotel for the weekend?!?  I mean, sure... you'd have a shower and an ice machine...  woohoo...  ::)  :D

It's also way cheaper than a DWI, which is the reason I started camping in the first place.

And until camping is more expensive than the Best Western on 105, I'm paying my money and thanking the Gods we have a campground.

Just my opinion.

i agree- I would much rather only have to worry about staggering safely back to camp than having to make our way to a hotel! And, in my opinion, camping is just as much fun as faire itself, so I dont really mind paying 20 for a 2 night party!

No rumor there, there has been extensive expansion and ground work done at this point in time, and the groundscrew isn't done yet.

Groundscrew? Sounds kinky!
