Tents are kind of an iffy thing to lend, even to good friends!  If something happens to it, you could be out in the cold (literally, depending on the time of year) at an event like TRF... especially if it's a nice tent!  I used to be fine with the small crappy tents, but then I got a taste of "comfort camping" and after that I wanted my Portable Mansion anytime I slept outdoors!  I like having enough room for all of our gear, and the queen size air mattress... plus room to get garbed for Faire in the morning.  I bring carpets for the floor, and all of the nice heavy bedding from my own bed, just so it's nice and comfy.  I'm thinking about getting a folding mattress platform this year, just so I don't have to get up and down from the ground, and I can sit down on the edge of the bed to put on my shoes!  My knees protest too much for all that, these days... and the ground cold seems to seep into the air in the mattress and keep it extra chilly, as well!  Might even need a tent heater this year...  :o

I usually wouldn't lend it, but this person I trust...for the most part lol

Oh, that wasn't at all telling...  LOL  It's most likely fine... although I loaned my wonderful huge tent to my brother many years ago, and he left it out at the lake for a couple of days, planning to come back for some more fishing... and the lake flooded, and washed my poor tent away.  He didn't even TELL me for a month!  I thought it was in his garage, and when I wanted to use it for my own lake trip the truth came out.  He had to buy me a new tent... but it just wasn't the same!

48!!. It's in the forty range now!  A lot to do and no time to do it... At least my camp kit has been vastly simplified.  Still need to pick up a 12 volt coffee pot.  Last AHE, mine kept popping the breaker on my inverter... 42,drizzly and I wanted some hot coffee to go with my Loki!

Goood morning!!  These past few mornings/evenings have definitely been hinting towards our going into the fall.  I sure hope it'll be a very crisp and cool one!

12 volt coffee pot? Gonna need to buy one of those now!
On a long enough time line, the survival rate for everyone drops to zero.

I can't help it!  I haven't been able to concentrate on work all afternoon.

On a bright note, I think I'm almost done with my camping gear list!!   ;D

Gah!!!  I need some Faire, NOW!!!  I think it's time to start dragging the garb bins out to see what still fits, and what needs to stay home!  My lifter/hauler is currently doing her homework, though... so it might have to wait just a bit.  I wonder if wearing a corset every day for a few weeks would help my back get better faster...  :D  heheh

Camp coffee pot is a good idea, but I want a Keurig like Riot has!

Hi, Lylia... and welcome aboard!  I think for work you might want the Help Wanted board, here

This is the perpetual TRF Countdown thread, and it's purely for fun, although I'm sure there is most likely the occasional vendor who pops in here to see what's going on, as well.  It can be a good place to get acquainted with some folks who attend Faire before it starts, but probably isn't the place to find a job.

There is a huge amount of info here in the forums, though, about working Faire, attending Faire, creating characters, garbing, sewing, accents, historical accuracy (for employees, or enthusiasts)... and LOTS more!  My best advice would just be to start reading... it's pretty much what everyone does when they stumble upon this place!  LOL  There's a lot here, but it's all pretty fascinating, so you might want to take a minute (or an hour) and read through the list of forums and boards on the Forum page, to get an idea of what topics are where... and then just jump right on in!  :)

I can almost smell the wood smoke in the air!  Maeven, I wish you were going to be able to camp for AHE!

Oh, my... I just found a really cute little pop-up online for $1k... and it looks like it might be small and light enough to pull with my van!

Now I'm REALLY dreaming!  I bet I could talk them down to around $700, though...  :D

Of course, then I would just have to come up with $700.  Easy, right?  LOL

I'm already envisioning it all decked out like a little Gypsy Vardo, with curtains for the beds, recovered cushions in some of the beautiful brocades I've been stashing for years, for just such a project... and all of the exposed "wood" surfaces (it's a 1980, I doubt there's much real wood in it that doesn't have a laminate veneer) painted in the lovely traditional patterns!  It's not exactly a vintage Airstream (my brother has THAT little gem!), but it could be really cute with the right decor, and it's lightweight enough to travel easily!

(sigh)  A girl can dream, can't she?
