Actually, I DO know them... and they are two of the most wonderful people I've EVER known!  His vows being written didn't happen because both of them worked their collective @$$es off to make this wedding happen, and to provide a full day of FREE costuming convention for the 170 or so guests who showed up, including free vendors tables and all... on a budget of almost NOTHING, so he didn't have TIME to write them, and everyone who was there knew it!  lol  They spent literally WEEKS making arrangements, and coordinating schedules and plans with all of the (completely volunteer) entertainment, vendors, guest celebrities, authors, comic artists, caterers... and everyone else who contributed time, resources and love to this event.  If he was just some jerk who didn't bother to write any vows then none of these people would have come together to help them get married this way... but everyone who was there cares deeply about these two people, and the fact that he didn't have the time or energy, after doing all of these other things, to write down the things that he told her (that he will love her forever, and always do his best to make her happy) made absolutely no difference to anyone at all.  He spent a great deal more time with the actual physical planning than his wife did, though, so she had a great deal more time to write her vows than he did... but everyone there choked up when he spoke, because he was moved to tears himself by the force of his feelings for this woman.

Everyone who volunteered for and/or contributed to this wedding did so because they adore these two wonderful people, and wanted to give them the gift of a truly unforgettable celebration to mark the start of their marriage, including the Birds Of Prey organization.   It really was a lovely ceremony...   :)

Rani,
Good to know that appearances aren't always what they seem, and good for the couple - Huzzah for true love and deep commitment!
I was just commenting on what was offered, and since no background on the individuals or event was given, this seemed somewhat unusual and, on the surface, somewhat cavalier on the grooms part.

Your making a little background known on the video as presented was truly helpful, and now having that information, have edited my original post.

Certainly No offense was meant! My apologies, and I hope my edit will serve as a mea culpa

Being a musician and having played at literally hundreds of weddings, for both friends and complete strangers, I can honestly say that I have never seen a groom come to his wedding and say that when it came time for the vows :)  But... Viva la Difference'!

Cheers to the happy couple, and may your friendships be lasting and meaningful.

Sir Keeper, I have seen you at the fair.  You are an inspiration to me!
Thank you for being you.

Barbarian Queen... perhaps my defense of the groom was a bit more... enthusiastic... than necessary!  I do tend to have those strong protective urges toward those I care about, as a few here might be able to attest...  LOL  I believe a bit of editing is called for on my part, as well.  :)

As for the rest of you... I may not be QUITE as RENvious of all of you lucky faire-goers on this particular weekend as I will be NEXT weekend... but I still wish we could be there!  We will be thinking of you all, and wishing you warm campfires and dry tents... and the warmth of friends and Fairmily, as well!

We're coming out closing, but no idea if it'll be for the weekend or just Sunday. It all depends on if we can get someone to watch the kids. Best case scenario- their grandmother watches them Saturday and brings them out Sunday so we get a tornado-free day and night for us, and then closing day as a family. Cross your fingers :)

BBBBBBBbbrrrrrr!!!!
What a wet and cold weekend!! I am still not thawed out, even after a hot bath.  I literally froze my a_s off - here's hoping that closing weekend will be warmer and dryer!!

Went out today at the request of my mom, who had never been before.  I still can't feel my toes (I think they're still there) but she had a great time, so all the frostbite was worth it!

On a side note, due to all the crappy weather we've had this season, I'm stuck with extra tickets.  All I want is to get back what I paid for them, which came out to about $15/ea so if anyone still needs to buy tickets for closing weekend, I've got some.

As with every year, although a bit early this year, i bid a fond farewell for a while. :o  It's time for Holiday BS and all that and i have some things to brood over.  i'll stick my head back in once in a while just to keep the thread alive until it becomes relevant again.   8)

Happy Holidays to everyone... see ya when i see ya.
