She got to see me, so, at least THAT part was good....  ::)

We did, indeed, get to see a certain wizardly reprobate, AND his eternally lovely bride... along with RefMom (from way up in Chicago {who generally sticks to other boards and threads, but she should really come play in here, as well, once in a while}) and Scott Chene, who managed to make it up for the Saturday, as well!  Oh, and Jim from Black Pearl Leather and several others who haven't posted here on R/F in far too long.  It was really nice, and we enjoyed ourselves immensely!  Camping would definitely make it better, since sleeping in the van in the parking lot isn't exactly what I would call "comfortable"... but at least we were there in time for cannon!  :D  Not that we were ready to actually go IN by then... but then, when are we ever?  LOL

On Sunday we managed to drag everyone out to the parking lot with us for a bit of lunchtime tailgating, which is something I've been wanting to do for a few years, now, but have just never quite been able to get put together until this time... and it seemed to go off pretty well, I think.  I haven't heard that anyone was poisoned, at any rate... so I'm calling it a success!  :D  heheh

It really IS a lovely Faire, though, and I do think a lot of you might really enjoy a visit one of these days!  It's not so big that you get lost, but it has plenty of winding lanes and wonderful shops to explore... and better shade than any other Faire I've ever been to!  There are lovely mature trees all over the grounds, and benches and picnic tables just everywhere, so you never have to walk more than a few yards to find a shady place to sit.  And even though there are a few performers that you TX folks are familiar with, for the most part they are completely different than the acts you see down there, so something fresh, fun and new is always a welcome change of pace.  We are hoping to be able to figure out a way to get back out there again before the end of the season, but since it's only 5 weekends long I'm not sure I'm going to be able to work it out.  We did get to meet several more cast members this trip, though, and a few more locals, also... so even if we don't have all of our R/Fers there we would still have a wonderfully warm welcome!  It's one of the very best things about living here, for sure... and I would love to be able to share it with all of you someday!  :)

Yes, Rani... The luncheon was lovely, if I hadn't already thanked you. ... and, MY! How Scally has grown! A real doll, she is!

I saw your post, Rani!
I'm here!

We did have a wonderful time, and lunch was lovely, and the company delightful. Miss Scally seemed to be very poised  around us strangers, and I give her a lot of credit for that. It's not something I'm that easy with even now ;)  Shyness is just part of my nature, I guess. I look forward to a rematch of the game with her!
I know this is a thread for the Texas faire, but I will stick in my two cents for the Castle; it is a compact space, but lots of things to see, very fine performers, tasty food, and lots of places to sit and just relax or people-watch. That's one thing that my home faire of Bristol is getting better about, and I'm glad. Now that I've started attending the Castle, I fully intend to visit every year.

Oh, this particular thread has had topics ranging to the moon and back, and things FAR stranger even than our friendly game of Cards Against Humanity on Saturday evening, I assure you!  lol  Particularly during TRF's off season.  It's the longest running "countdown" thread on the boards, and we all plan on keeping it going indefinitely, so come in here and get to know some of the lively TX crowd!  They're all at least interesting...  :D  heheh

It was definitely our pleasure to host luncheon for everyone on Sunday, and by then I am always in dire need of something light and NOT fried... so we thought the fruit and cheese platter might be a welcome respite from the typical Faire fare (even though those Pauper's poppers are pretty tasty with the peppered bacon!).  And yes, Merlin, you and Nim both thanked us very nicely, as did everyone else.  Scally was so excited to see you both that she could hardly sleep the night before we left, and she was practically giddy at the thought of getting to play cards with all of us!  She really IS getting much too grown up, isn't she?

Nancy, she can be pretty shy, herself, but she told me that she really felt a connection with you the last time we were all together, and so she was excited to see you this time.  She likes both you and Cindy a great deal, she said... and she says she feels really comfortable with everyone we were with, and not like any of you are strangers at all.  She did look rather like she was "holding court" there on the cushions, didn't she?  heheh  She says she enjoys "listening while all of the adults talk to each other" (direct quote)... but she was doing her fair share of talking, and I don't think she was even aware of how much she was contributing.  She is definitely emerging from her shell...

That's because he's too busy posting in that other place... where you have no presence, and can't give him a hard time.  :P

I'm not altogether sure I'm okay with a Loki flavor that has anything at all to do with turkey.   :o  LOL

But a 3rd Loki flavor... hmmmm.  Maybe... Toffee?  Caramel Macchiato?  Spiced Apple Cider?  Peach Cobbler?

Jaqen, it's quite the place to be in the fall, that's for sure!

The Holiday Edition is pumpkin pie/ginger bread.  Or as Lishy said  " It's like Christmas and Thanksgiving just *** in my mouth!"

Now, Turkey & Gravy Loki...hmmmmm

That jackanapes has my phone number.  Gawd dang big, furry, Celt.  He could've texted me at least.  Hell, I didn't know he was going to be at Comicpalooza until yesterday.  Last I heard, he was fed up with it.  ???

The pumpkin pie/ginger bread, though... that definitely sounds like something I need to acquire a bottle of!  :D
