Rani, punch bowl cake is basically a layered trifle.  You make a yellow cake and vanilla pudding.  Then put layers of crumbled cake, pudding, strawberry or cherry pie filling, some walnuts if you want, some crushed pineapple if you want, and cool whip; then repeat...ending with cool whip on top.  You want to put in a tall dish or punch bowl (hence the name) so the layers can be seen and look pretty.  My mother-in-law makes this for every holiday and my son specially requested it for his bday this year.  I found a recipe on line for a chocolate one that was really good also, chocolate cake, chocolate pudding, heath bar crumbles and cool whip I believe (very possibly some nuts-probably used pecans).  Really, its a basic combo that you can get really creative with.

Hey, there, YRose!  Mmmmm... that sounds tasty!  I wish I could get a "care package" sent up here with a whole box of small(ish) sample bottles, so I can try everyone's flavors this year!  I need to get some little bottles with blank labels, a small funnel and a box, and bribe Nasty to take it down there for me and fill them... and NOT drink them on the way back!  LOL Fraser, have you heard if he's going to make it down there this year?

Trill, what is Punch Bowl Cake?  That sounds intriguing...  :D

Welcome, BR!  Glad you've joined us.  :)  Come on in and make yourself at home!

Laird Nasty is still up in the air on attending, this year.  I talked to him Saturday evening and was told that he wouldn't know for sure until the end of July/beginning of August if he was going to make it.

Bei dir habe ich die Wahl der Qual
Stacheldraht im Harnkanal
Leg dein Fleisch in Salz und Eiter
Erst stirbst du doch dann lebst du weiter

Bisse Tritte harte Schläge
Nadeln Zangen stumpfe Säge
Wünsch dir was ich sag nicht nein
Und führ dir Nagetiere ein

Ich tu dir weh
Tut mir nicht leid
Das tut dir gut
Hör wie es schreit

Thanks guys, I have been camping for a couple years now and thoroughly enjoy it as we look forward to it every year. The atmosphere simply can not be reproduced anywhere else. Now as we progress with our camping skills, I was wondering if ya'll can offer any advice on camping in general? Any good recommendations on food that can be cooked over a fire or good spots on the camp ground to set up our tents?

My friends and I are starting to plan for our camping trip at TRF and we're crazy excited. Talk about it all day everyday and its still four months away!

Does anyone have any tips on how to make a flag for our campsite or where to design/order one?

Loki, is the nectar of the gods...or at least the rennies. It's so deceptively smooth (if made right) you couldn't even tell that there's everclear in it.  It can come in varying flavors but in my opinion the best loki makers are on this forum, more specifically, Fraser, Teach/Trinn, & Capt. Sin.

I have been known to brew a palatable batch, now and then.

Who am I kidding?
I AM A LOKI GOD!  KNEEL BEFORE MY GREATNESS!

:o

just kidding.   ;D

My three flavors for this year... it's kind of a "Greatest Hits" year.
1. Death by CHOCOLATE!  *New and improved recipe*
2. Holiday Edition. (Pumpkin pie/Gingerbread)
3. Banana Nut Bread.
