Fraser classifies that as "self-gratification."

I got on line early to try and steal Fraser's thunder and I see that he got up at o'dark early and beat me.
The weather this morning really put me in the mood for TRF.  I can hardly wait to wake up in the campground opening morning, resist the temptation to scream outside the tent that woke me at 03:45, find something resembling coffee and prepare to go to the gates for the opening ceremony.
Upon entering, the first thing I do is to look for Sholo, standing like a mountain.  If I see him, I know all is well for another day.
Then there is the beer.... and the ladies...
Like I said, I can hardly wait.

These cooler mornings are definitely starting the fever.  Its been a long rough year & been a little hard to feel inspired.  Started working on an idea for a new belt yesterday & got my son to decide what style of new garb he wants.  He likes the Thorin inspired pattern so lets hope Joanns is having a sale for Labor day!  Ought to be interesting, hopefully they have the pattern for youth/teens...my boy is a rather small 12 year old.

You nailed it, Trillium. It's been a rough year for a lot of our fellows, me included but as long as I can walk through the gates, even if I'm broke, my spirit will heal a bit.

Thankfully we already have our tickets.  I hope we can make a camping trip.  At this point its doubtful, but business is picking up and hopefully we can get caught up.  We desperately need the break but at the moment closing the office for 2 of our busiest days of the week isn't possible.  If nothing else, we will make day trips on Sundays.  There is still time so just gotta wait and see...

What sort of prep have all of you been doing so far?  I know Fraser has been oiling his leather, and Trill has new dance garb... anyone else?  New tents, maybe?  Other camping gear?  Boots, hats, sharp pointy things?  C'mon, now... we may not be able to get down there to see it all, but we still like to keep up with everyone's Faire prep news!

Mostly just trying to save up enough money to enjoy a few weekends at TRF.  I have been thinking about getting a new hat, though.  Not sure what might look good.

Perhaps a new Robin Hood style hat, Sir Martin?  I believe it would set off your brown jerkin OR your wonderful green doublet very nicely, as well as several of your other pieces!  I thought about a tall hat, but I think the Robin Hood would go with more of your garb, whereas the tall hat would likely be more of a match for the fancier pieces, and harder to wear with the more casual ones.... unless that's more the direction you're going these days?  I have no idea what everyone is wearing now... just what you were all wearing the last time I saw all of you.  :-\

Rani, they've already had snow up in Calgary, AB & there's still snow on the ground, in Northern Scotland, from last year....

Something tells me we're in for a cold one. Start knitting.

;D

I believe you may be right, Fraser... but I don't knit!  I do, however, sew... and I've been planning a Nomad's cloak for a while, now.  I've even got the pieces cut... so maybe it's time to finish it!  Quilted and hooded, even, for extra warmth.  Yes... I think it's time!

Trill, I'm sure you'll be able to find him just the thing.  LOTR is always popular, and Labor Day is always a good time for a .99 sale,  I want to see pics!  :D

Keeper... Sholo is a landmark for us, as well.  I mean, the man is practically a mountain, so how could he NOT be, right?  And he's such a sweetheart, as well, that it's always wonderful to see him there as we walk through the gates!  After that we head one of two directions, depending on the weather, and how late we've gotten through the gates.  Either to the bakery or to Indulgences, for kolaches, and then either hot cocoa or frozen lemonade!  I save my drinking for after the sun goes down... if I'm able to do any at all, these days.  But the company is intoxicating enough, all on it's own!  :)

Hmmm ... that might be nice.  I'll check styles online, but I like to purchase in person so I can try out the wares.
