I think many of the people who attend Sherwood use FB pages dedicated to their clans.

I'm wondering the same thing about this block script crap. I'm just glad whatever was messed up got fixed.
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are---
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Yes...the rumor is true.  Apparently Terre posted something, last night, on Friends of Texas Renaissance Festival, stating that he was let go.

No reason given, of course.

I deleted my previous post due to celebratory nature at the prospect of someone losing their job & livelihood.  I'm a firm believer that a business should make money BUT without sacrificing the values that made up the core of your business model.  I, and many others, have witnessed TRF go from a welcoming haven, where one can lift up your cares, to a sterile feeling, Middle Age amusement park.  I have to give props to the growth over the last ten years but it came at the price of TRF's soul.  Instead of expanding the borders of the faire inside, the management seemed fine with the place being packed to the rafters, while expanding and trying to cram the camp ground with as many people possible.  Some of us don't do well in crowds like that.  They took away almost all the peaceful green spaces, where you could catch your breath from the sea of humanity and replaced them with more shops.  Every season, for the last five or six years, I could feel the spirit of the place retreating into the nooks and crannies...hiding from the light of day and the crush of the crowds.  I used to be able to walk through the gates and the spirit of TRF would reach out to embrace me and lead me on to walk the lanes...not anymore.

It's my hope that whoever takes over remembers what TRF was and will strive to possibly blend the new with the old...the soul of TRF might be able to except that, as long as it's done correctly.

*steps off of soapbox*

My rant is done...ONWARD TO BETTER THINGS.

There HAVE been questions about the actual gate count...someone apparently set up a camera, at the front gate and was able to make a count that didn't jive with the official one.

Rumor also has it that Terre wasn't the only member of management that was let go...

I feel the same way, Fraser.  I have found some of the magic remains very early in the morning.  Enter at cannon and wander the lanes before they are packed.  Vendors still greet you without the hard sell that later comes.  People are happy and pleasant.  The magic only lasts about an hour, maybe two but it is well worth prying the eyeballs open to feel it.

Yes, my friend, she comes out when few are around and then runs away when things become too crowded...like a woodland sprite.

You got that right!  :D

I wonder if they would feel the same if it came out that it was fraud or some other white collar crime.

Been following this story for several weeks ..
gate count as reported to vendors for their payouts has been 'inaccurate' for a few years.
Some members of management and investors were in process of buying the faire.
Apparently looking into the books revealed information that led to the owner killing the deal, and the majority of management, front office and campground staff being fired.
