Shouldn't it be that way everywhere? 


I have very distant cousins I could impose on, if I were the imposing type, anyway... but it's been almost a century and a half since anyone from my branch of one family has been born there, and well over two with the other, so it would be family in name only, like as not.  I can claim the right to wear the tartan of two different clans, but I'd rather have the family ties, instead...

What part of Scotland are your people from, Fraser?

Scattered around Inverness Shire... mainly in the town of Beauly although i have kin as far south as Manchester and my cousin Simon, THE Fraser of Lovat, lives in Switzerland.

Ahhh... well, if you're going to leave Scotland for anywhere, I guess Switzerland would be the place to go, eh?  Vastly different sorts of landscapes, but both very dramatic! 


I'm of the Hamiltons of Lanarkshire (with the family seat being in Hamilton, itself), Ayrshire and the Lothians... and the MacSapddens, from the Isles.  So, lowland, hill and Isle Scots run through my family. 

Your folk are all much farther north, though, right?  When were you there last?

My wifes Grandparents are from Inveraray, she has never been over there to see any family but we have plans to go to Ireland next year, so it isn't much of reach to hop over to Scotland for a few days.
