Nagling

At Scarby I'll try and taste some of Var's and Sir Lawrence's homebrew (yummmm), and then switch to Widmer Hefeweizen.  (I'm a beer snob and not a fan of A-B beers, but they do have Guinness.  Unfortunately, Widmer has also gone to the "dark side" with A-B as part owners.)

For TRF, it's getting the Stone Arrogant Bastard Ale on tap at the Sea Devil.  PoW and the King's Feast usually serve some really good brews (Young's Double Chocolate Stout), but I have a tradition of always having at least one Monty Python's Holy Grail Ale per weekend.  Especially since it's tempered over burning witches... ;D

If I'm really lucky, TRF may have New Belgium's 1554 on tap somewhere.  Alas, their distributor doesn't follow through, and the really good beers are wiped out before the season is over.

The best places to find the really good beers at TRF are the PoW, Sea Devil, and that "new" place sorta behind Lady McArthur's.  If they could only bring in the really good stuff from Avery and Dogfish Brewing Companies...

I still haven't found anything to beat Guiness myself.

I second that!

At PRF, there's Bud, Kilians, Busch, and I think there's also Corona but I'm not sure.

Kilian's is the only beer I will drink, period.

The economy seems to have affected the beer lists. Have you noticed that a lot of faires have dropped the more expensive brews like Guinness?

I'm happy as long as I can have my cider and currant...

After having a sip out of a certain Pirate Captain's mug after Closing Gate at Scarborough this past weekend, he informed me that, since we no longer carry Guinness (Shock, Horror, Fear) we now have a Scarborough Dark!

Has anyone here tried it yet?!?

I foiund the Belhaven Stout (which I quite liked), but at which pub does one find this Scarborough Dark?  As a fan of porters and stouts, I must try it on my next visit.  (Oh - Pirate Captain!  Would it be at the Cat and Fiddle then?)

Smithwicks anytime I can get it.

I like Boddingtons now and again. Newcastle, there's a nice beer. Guiness is good for an occasional change. Chimay, yellow preferably. And I even have what is probably the last 4 bottles of Youngs Oatmeal Stout in all of Houston, in my cupboard right now.

But nothing will ever take the place of my favorite; Bass. Now that's a fine beer.

I believe that all of these are available at the Sea Devil Tavern at TRF. What else could you want?

I don't see much beer in the parking lot anymore besides Guinness or Bud light.
Are there fewer microbreweries around?
